“Old parisian lady”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

I stayed in this hotel for two days (5/6 oct 2012) during a business trip. Room 495.
Concorde Opera resembles an elegant old parisian lady, great exterior, beautifully decorated, but when you get closer: peeling off (paint), damaged (furniture) and smelly (urine of "clochards" both sides of the hotel). The most disappointing was the breakfast ! The parisian "baguette" was soft, not crunchy. Only hard boiled eggs available, while soft boiled eggs takes less energy to provide. Just one kind of fruit-youghourt (cherry). It is possible to press oranges by yourself. But the fruit-press is very unhygienic, because everybody puts his hands into it.
Clearly there is a lack of personal and hygiene. You sit at "fast-food" tables, without a table-cloth. The fitted carpet in the breakfast room is very dirty. Crumbs are wiped away onto it by the waitress. All seats of the chairs are damaged, giving them a dirty look.
With this abominable breakfast, and lack of fitness-room, a largy overpriced hotel.
A shame, she looked so well from a distance ...

While others might have had a better experience...I beg to differ! The hotel is nice...yes the Building is very pretty. The bathroom is big and spacious but the Bath area need regrouting and it was evidently blocked therefore the water drained slowly which is pretty disgusting. To add insult to injury water was either boiling or cold couldn't get it to be tepid. The housekeeping was insulting, especially since I found my nightgown just thrown over my suitcase! There were no tea/coffee making facilities which all 4 star hotels have nowadays. If you're unlucky enough to get a room at the back of the hotel..it's going to be noisy but that's to be expected cause you're overlooking a train station! Overall this hotel get 2 points...1. For the very helpful Concierge and 2. for it's location. I suggest you look elsewhere!

Room Tip: Just don't choose this hotel!

I definitely recommend this hotel, very polite and professional valet staff, front desk and housekeeping. Everybody spoke English, the beds were very comfortable and the rooms very bright with sunshine, huge washroom with double sink, the shower was a little weird.

Prfetty sumptious bedroom I must say. Wonderfully clean. Massive bed so I could do my starfish impressions without falling over the edge! Staff were very polite and welcoming. The conference requirements were met with speed and professionalism. The breakfast was... well... it was.... pretty average! But all things said and done, a really good hotel for those with reasonably deep pockets.

Room Tip: My room was number 219 and it was fab.

I recommend you speak French. The hotel staff is bi-lingual and helpful. The view from our room was great. The location is in the heart of the city. It's close to all the shopping and sites like Eiffel Tower. There is no pool.

Room Tip: It's best if you speak French. I did not but I am sure my experience would have been all the mor...

As you get in the hotel, it has the absolute magnificence of French châteaux. The reception and vestibule are absolutely gorgeous.
If you want to eat here, don't hesitate, the food is really good. In fact I had here one of the best salads ever!
On the other hand we arrived at the hotel at 12, and had beed promised when reserving (several months in advance) that we would have an early check in, since their usual is at 3. Well, not only we did not have it at 3, we only got the room at 5. We were simply exhausted due to the long trip from Canada. To top it off, the way the situation was handled by the front desk staff was far from ideal. It seems that in Paris the rule of "the costumer is always right" does not apply.
The rooms are quite ordinary, almost 3 stars style.
It was not what it had promised to be.
