The GOOD:
1) Located within 50 yards of a Metro station. Very convenient.
2) In a relatively quiet (by Paris standards) neighborhood.
3) Yes, it is cheap for a Paris hotel.
The BAD:
1) NOT convenient to Gare Lyon station unless your definition of convenient encompasses a hike of over a mile.
2) My room was tiny and cheaply furnished (no, this ain't the Ritz). On the bright side, it was clean and no bugs were sighted.
3) The staff, although friendly and approachable, seemed to have very little knowledge of even the local neighborhood (restaraunts, banks, shops, etc.).
4) The bathroom lights flickered off and on (mostly off) so that we had to bathe in the dark...of course for some of us that's not entirely a bad thing!!!
The UGLY:
Having the hotel bill my credit card at their full rate even though the reservation had already been 100% prepaid through a major U.S. travel service. Did not seem to matter that I argued with the hotel staff and showed them the prepaid invoice...took three months of complaints, phone calls, and correspondence to get my money refunded. My advice to my fellow travellers is to always contact the hotel directly when you book a "package" trip to confirm prepayment and the reservation...you'll avoid a lot of heartache.
