Every so often you have to give yourself a treat and the Mandarin Oriental is certainly the treat of treats !! From the moment you arrive at the hotel you are immediately surrounded by helpful staff. We arrived by car and the staff take care of everything. On arriving in the lobby you are greeted by attractive, attentive, beautifully dressed staff who swiftly find your room and you are swept away to the lift and escorted personally to your room. Once you have been familiarized with all the amenities the room offers two glasses of champagne arrive to help you relax after your journey. Paris is a very special destination so combining the location with the Mandarin really makes it a very difficult city to leave !!!

Room Tip: They are all wonderful !!

We were here on business and very much enjoyed this hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful any time we needed anything. The room was amazing, we had a Junior Suite and it was fantastic with 1 1/2 bath. The bed was very comfy and they have a pillow menu to choose from if you want, which we did take advantage of it. Great location, easy to get to the metro. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Exchange your money at the hotel, it's less of a fee than if you go to an actual currency exchan...

Residents would appear to come way down the pecking order in this curiously run hotel. You are fawned over on arrival and shown round the impressive facilities. Our guide was particularly proud of the Michelin starred restaurant. To dine there is a fantastic experience apparently. I say apparently because we were not allowed to. Even though we had booked a penthouse suite for 4 nights we were told that the restaurant was fully booked for 2 nights and closed on the other two. That only left the small restaurant where breakfast is served. This a soulless room with little atmosphere and desperately slow service. Just about bearable for breakfast but not for a special night. Then there is is smart and trendy bar. Once again the residents would appear to come second to casual walk in patrons. This can mean that the bar is completely closed to residents on some nights. You can always sit in the lobby is the advice given.
We complained that residents expect better hospitality and the middle managers did listen sympathetically but they were powerless to change anything.
Ok, it was no great hardship to find nice restaurants and bars in Central Paris but surely a hotel of this standing should do more to keep hold of paying guests.
One other curious thing. On arrival your credit card is swiped and a pending charge is applied which will cover the whole of your stay. Be warned that this charge, in our case, 8000 euros, remains as a pending debt on your credit card for about a week after you have paid and checked out. It would be easy to be caught short by this procedure if you don't have a large enough credit limit.
Lastly, if you are a devotee of the modern type of hotel you will love the rooms and suites. For me they were furnished more like an office than a luxury hotel room. Very clinical lines, very functional but lacking any warmth. Lots of gadgets and buttons to press but after a while you just long for a simple light switch and not have to study how everything works.

Room Tip: Go to a more traditional hotel.

Dear guest,

Our valued customers’ feedback is essential in our commitment to the best guest experience, so thank you for taking the time to provide us with your comments on your recent stay among us.

I am very sorry that we were not able to provide you with a table at our gastronomic restaurant Sur Mesure par Thierry Marx over your stay. Sur Mesure is indeed an amazing experience on its own but it does offer limited sitting. Our two Michelin star restaurant sits 40 guests per service to enable the most exclusive experience. When our hotel reaches full occupancy – as it did when you visited us – not every in-house visitor gets a table. Our concierge team saves a bit of space for our guests’ last minute reservations. Unfortunately even this precaution does not always suffice when our hotel is full.

It is a shame you did not get to try Camelia though as it is a great restaurant for quiet yet warm celebrations.

I understand that our modern design and facilities did not match your criteria. However, if you decide to visit us again along with your spouse, please do not hesitate to let me know.

I remain at your disposal should you want to discuss your experience further at mopar-socialmedia@mohg.com.

With kind regards,

A great hotel to recover from jet lag. Relaxing, peaceful. Good room service. Also close to shops, restaurants, and just two or three blocks from the Seine. But my personal taste is something lighter and brighter. Rooms were very dark--made it hard to get adjusted to Paris time. I prefer to be more immersed in the local culture. Also, we had difficulty getting all the technology to work. Never figured out how to turn on the TV above the bathtub. Just a matter of personal taste, but I probably wouldn't stay here again.

Was looking forward to visiting Paris and trying somewhere new. The Mandarin Oriental was outstanding. From the personal welcome of the General Manager to the wave goodbye from the Concierge our time at the hotel was such a pleasure. As you would expect, stylish design, thoughtful facilities but the service from all the team was perhaps the best I have ever experienced. Make sure you try cocktails and dinner in the garden. Great location for shopping, sightseeing and meeting friends. We will certainly be back.

An Oasis in the heart of Paris. Upon arrival a birthday cake and bottle of Bollinger as a gift for my wife's birthday. It does not get any better than that! It is the attention to detail that makes this hotel shine. And of course the location which is excellent. Well done, it was a pleasure to stay in your modern hotel and we will be back again next week.

Room Tip: Great cocktails!!!
