“Excellent service, beautiful setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2012

This is a beautiful, modern hotel in an excellent location. This was my second stay and was just as good as the first. Rooms are clean, modern and beautifully decorated. The service is exceptional and sincere. Worth every penny!

Having stayed at a number of hotels in Paris in the past (Ritz, Park Hyatt, Crillon, etc), was eager to try something new. The Mandarin does not disappoint. Service is excellent, food is SUPERB, location could not be better, and the rooms are (for Paris) very large and comfortable (particularly like that they all have working windows). Excellent gym and pool facility, lovely interior garden, thoughtful touches (fresh flowers, advance technology features, travel steamer, etc).

I can only make minor complaints. For example, I like the contemporary design, but the art work (fashion photographs) is terrible. Some minor service problems (had to make several requests).....but these kinks are no doubt due to the fact that the hotel is so new.

The only other flaw was that the bar and signature restaurant were closed during our stay--this will no doubt be corrected shortly. But even the 'casual' restaurant, Magnolia, offered superb food and service.

Overall, an excellent stay. The service is on par with even the Palace hotels in Paris--and is delivered in a much more friendly and personable manner. The Mandarin rooms are as large as jr. suites at many other properties (and look better in person than they do in the photographs).

Room Tip: Hotel web site does a good job of describing the rooms. Main differences are size and location. Re...

I went to check-in to the hotel, but I was met by such a strong odour of something smelling akin to sewage in the lobby: I was nearly ill onthe spot! I asked the Maitre D' if there was anythihens ring and when would the problem be dixed? Could it be smelled in the rooms?
His answer: What smell?
What problem?
Needless to say, I did not stay.
I left the hotel
I have been back for drinks twice (obviously it doesn't smell) but the service has been aloof and bordering on the indifferent. I have stopped going there when I visit Paris (which I do regularly).

The pick up at the airport was fine. Even though there was a last minute change of gate and the MO representative missed us at the door of the aircraft, he managed to locate us at the baggage claim and helped us with our luggages. We were warmly greeted at the door of the hotel and escorted to our room for check in. The welcome drink, which were two glasses of bubbly champagne, were delivered to our room and it was shortly followed by the arrival of our luggages. We were happy with this smooth service after a long flight from Buenos Aires.

On the other hand, the driver just dropped us off at the parking lot of the airport on our way back. He showed no intention to park the car and go inside the terminal with us, which was what he should have done. There was also no MO representative waiting at the airport to offer assistance.

Other than that, we like this hotel very much. Service was outstanding and the staff showed the renowned Oriental hospitality. We stayed at a Deluxe Room with Courtyard view. The room was not big but quite comfortable. We like the large B&O TV with motorized mount on the wall. Sur Mesure was closed for maintenance during our stay and we had dinner at the Camelia. Unfortunately, the dinner was disappointing. Service at the restaurant was wonderful. We had a facial treatment at the Spa and it was surprisingly well performed. From our experience, this high level of quality is not easy to find at Spa outside of Asian countries. We were impressed.

As a frequent traveler to Paris, this was my first time staying at the hotel at my husbands suggestion and I am so glad we did. The room
was impeccable, the location perfect, and the staff cannot do enough.
I especially make note of Boris Bex in housekeeping for finding something I had mistakenly discarded. He went above and beyond. Any other hotel would have just ignored the request to search the trash but he did not and it was found. What an amazing man.
If you ate looking for a relaxing hotel that is close to everything, stay here. My husband travels frequently for business and stays only in the best hotels and he would rate this at the top. I will definitely be back soon. Merci beaucoup!!!

First of all let me say that i'm a Four season's lover and i wanted to try the new MO of Paris because of their SPA.
it is truly a luxury hotel, does it worth 1000$ a nigth? the answer is no.

now in details:

the good points: beautiful hotel, excellent location (right in the 8eme, next to hermes, tiffany and many shops), the service is really good, well trained and very attentive, they have a pool (next to the SPA area) which is really nice thinking your in the center of paris.

the negative part: very girly decoration (butterfly and purple color everywhere), checkin in the room (my husband love it, i didn't like it at all, fell like intrusion to me), the camellia restaurant is too "complicated" (elegant name for the plate but too complicated tasting), the room are all with "domotics" and it doesn't work easily, you have to be very patient to get strong or light light , the bathroom are wird! shower are separated from the sink console by the entrance (in other word after your shower, you have to cross the room from the entrance to brush your teeth).

the SPA: really nice, the therapist are well trained and very attentive to your needs, the massage are perfect (i had a "mother to be massage" as i'm 4 month pregnant and it was more than perfect).
negative points: no relaxing room (no place to relax after your massage), after the massage the therapist brings you tea with a pastries in your massage room but as their is no relaxation room you take your tea seating on a "pouf" next to the lavabo, no no not in a 5 star hotel.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience at Mandarin Oriental, Paris. Customer reviews are crucial in our on-going effort to meet our valued guests’ expectations.

We are delighted to read that you enjoyed our location and service. The style of our property is inspired by the richness, modernity and creativity of the 1930s and from the hallmarks of luxury and Parisian fashion.
