“Nice hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2013

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel, it was very good. First, we had a quiet room (with a child, it's quite good). It was quite comfortable if you compare to many hotels in Paris. The bathroom was fantastic. The location is very central and close to the main monuments (Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysée, Palais de la découverte) so you can walk. There are also plenty of restaurants close to this hotel and a food shop. The RER station to go to Versailles is quite close too. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. They are also multilingual and get used to have a lot of foreign clients.

Room Tip: Rooms which are not on the street are quiet. Hitting is very high on winter but it is the same every...

We had a triple room. It was a good size, very bright & breezy & comfy. The staff were friendly. It was quiet & close to train station, restaurant, & within walking distance to the incredible Eiffel Tower.

On arrival the reception staff didn't even say hello as we stood there waiting to at least be acknowledged for check in. Oh well, it didn't matter because our room was lovely and the view was really quite spectacular!

This hotel is very quaint with reasonably small rooms although they were more than fine for a little weekend break in lovely Paris. Very contemporary decor, with a mini-bar fridge which we used for our own water as well as a hairdryer in the bathroom. The bed was very comfy and the room and bedding were all very clean. We had room 44 on the 4th floor which was extremely quiet at night and had an absolutely brilliant view of the Eiffel Tower!! It really is worth emailing the hotel before you arrive to ask for that room - that is what I had done following recomendations I had seen on Trip Advisor. The bathroom has a lovely big shower but no bath which suited us - very powerful shower too!

This hotel is in a lovely area; I would highly recommend walking to Rue Cler which is a 2 mins walk as there are lovely boutiques, cafes and restaurants both during the day and the evening. It is a 8-10 min walk to the Eiffel Tower and probably a 15 min walk to the Champs Elysee but for the price we paid it was very good compared to hotels which were more central. It cost around 20Euro for a cab from Paris Nord station although traffic was horrendous going back so leave plenty of time!!

The night reception staff were friendly but the day staff were rude at times - they pretty much ignored us when we said hello?! Not sure why because surely that is just polite manners but hey, if that is the only negative then it's not all bad!

Room Tip: High floor with a view of the Eiffel Tower - we had 44 which was perfect!

Hotel Derby Eiffel has clean, nice rooms. We could see Eiffel Tower from the windows. The people in front desk really helped us a lot. There are many restaurants in the area. There is no absolutly complain about the hotel.
There is Carrefour in 3 mins walk from the hotel which is also next to the underground station.
I really enjoyed my stay in Paris and one of the reasons was the hotel.

Room Tip: Choose the windows with Eiffel view

2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

Stayed here for three nights after a London/Paris tour. We selected it because it was near the Eiffel Tower and the rate was reasonable (not cheap) and included breakfast.
We had a small room on the second floor that faced the street. No view except a big building across the street. The bed was comfortable and both the bedding and drapes looked new, and we were expecting a smaller room. However the bathroom was very unpleasant. All of the fixtures, the tub, the sink and the toilet, and the tile was clipped and broken. Usable but not nice. The door to the bathroom had a hole in it like someone punched the door. The most unpleasant part for me was the mildew and stains in the shower (ick).
We arrived late at night, exhausted and sick with bad colds. If I had been feeling well at all I would have asked for another room as soon as we saw it. Surely not all the bathrooms are in this bad condition.
Breakfast was another mixed bag. There was bread, cheese, pastries, yogurt, and juice on the buffet. One morning everything was replenished but the next morning most items were almost or completely gone. Hot drinks were also rare because they were not self-serve. The attendant had to go into the back room to prepare each cup. First morning I got one small cup of coffee but none the next morning because I could not catch up with the attendant. We skipped the breakfast there entirely the third morning.
I wanted to rate this hotel terrible because my experience was terrible - but I think "poor" is a more accurate rating. I would not recommend this hotel to friends.

We stayed for three days in September and found the hotel to be perfectly located just a couple of minutes from the Metro, a few minutes from the Eiffel Tower and surrounded by a number of charming cafes and restaurants. OK so as with the many of the hotels in Paris the rooms are of modest size but they are clean and of decent condition if not particularly luxurious. We found the staff to be very pleasant. Breakfast was nice though basic continental. I would certainly have no problem staying at the hotel again and would recommend it to anyone seeking a well priced and well located hotel in Paris.
