“Very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2012

We stayed here for seven nights in early May of 2012. The hotel is well situated, just a short walk from the Champs Elysees and the Arc de Triomphe. The breakfast is adequate but not outstanding. Our room was quite comfortable, well lit and looking out onto the street. The room was very clean and had everything that we needed. The staff were all helpful and friendly. We had read here on Tripadvisor about problems with the elevator, but except for a brief outage, the elevator did work just fine during our stay. If we ever have the opportunity to visit Paris again, we would consider staying at this hotel.

A chaotic arrival, as 2 rooms flooded, so were shown to another hotel, a real dump, so insisted on remaining at Plaza Elysees. The first night two of us were in a family room under the eaves, annoying when we paid extra for single supplement. The rooms are very small, but good hot water, and a little balcony. Perfect for a single person, very cramped for a couple. Breakfast was pretty moderate, but the staff were delightful. Neither the Internet nor the lift was working on the final day, and there were workmen up and down stairs all the time. However it is very well placed, and the hop on hop off red buses were brilliant.

So I recently stayed here and well it was sadly less than average. The hotel in the pictures appeared to be this parisian charm type of place but the reality is thats its just old and run down. When you get to Paris its about 10-15 minutes walk from the station so be prepared. There is a lift but it seems to go out of service alot. There are a few restaurants nearby but no pharmacy or shops, so walking is always necesary and as i already said the station is quite a walk away. The wifi access was horrible I had to go down one floor to get any type of signal. Breakfast is expensive at the hotel so I just recommend a great bakery at the entrance of the station. Last but not least, if the weather is still "cold" (60-70 degrees)they dont give you access to the a/c panel so I had to sleep with the windows open to get some fresh air!! Thats just ridicolous what is cold for some people does not apply to others, if I make sure my hotel has a/c i want the power to control what tempature I want. So Maybe the hotel price is good compared to nearby options but truth is quality is lacking so I would increase my budget next time and try another hotel.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are sorry for the inconvenience, indeed we were changing our elevator in order to get a better and much larger one. Despite the fact that we sent a message to all our travel agencies in order to inform them that we were changing our lift, we understand your position and the fact that it could at be a little noisy.

Thank you so much for your comments about the cleaning ladies. They really like their work and do everything to keep the hotel clean. We really appreciate your comment about our front desk, this is a real motivation for them to read such a good comment.

We will be happy to welcome in you in the future to make you fully enjoy your stay in the city of light. Don't hesitate and contact us directly when you want to book.

Sincerely yours,

Isabelle Legros

It is situated in a very good position and it is very beatiful. However, the rooms are tiny, we had a double room and our two medium size suitcases could not fit. It almost does not have wardrobe, there was a place without door that could fit 4-5 pieces, but we had many more given that we travelled for 10 days.
Also, the water could not be adjusted. Whether it was getting hotter or colder but you could not fix the temperature. We asked to change room but the first day they told we would do it the second, the second they told we do it the next and so on.
In addition, the internet was not working properly.
Nevertheless, the staff was very polite and professional that they made us leave happy despite the inconvenience.
Last but not least, we paid far too much for it because it was booked through a greek agency but you can find better prices online.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2012

I recently stayed at the Best Western Plaza Elysees for business. Here is my opinion of the property:

The Good:
The hotel's location is terrific. Literally 2 minutes to walk to my office, and within 10 minutes walk up Rue d' Washington you emerge on the Champs Elysees, somewhat in the middle across from Louis Vuitton. I met at least 6 different front desk persons, and all spoke English well and were friendly and helpful. The room was very small--but I know Americans are used to much larger. I was alone; it would have been challenging for there to be more than one person and suitcase in the room. Not sure where they got the pictures on the website-- my room was nothing like those! The bathroom was good sized, updated, and very clean. Nice quality towels, no washcloths. There is a decent hair dryer but is the kind where you must constantly depress a button to make it work. Is there really a problem with people leaving hair dryers running while they are out of the room? I don't understand the need for those. I didn't sit and eat breakfast, I just grabbed a chocolate croissant each morning to munch while I walked. They were excellent! Another plus was the number of power outlets in the room. There is a mini bar, which is just a small refrigerator, which is good if you wish to buy water or soda and keep in your room. There are several little shops to purchase drinks and snacks up both Rue d' Artois, Rue d' Washington, and the boulanger next door.

The Not-So-Good:
As a business person traveling many time zones away, WiFi access is crucial to communicate with home, and to keep up with my work. I did not have good luck with the hotel wifi. It would literally disconnect every couple of minutes, and became very frustrating. My iPhone was never able to connect. I went down to the front desk for help, and another guest also commented that it was quite tricky to connect and quite finicky once connected. The last night there the internet was not functioning at all, not even for the front desk. This must be addressed, it is a big problem. The room was also very hot-- I even turned the radiator off (no wall thermostat control) but still had to open the window in the mornings after my shower. Speaking of showers, there is no shampoo and conditioner provided, only lotion and "hair/body gel" in a dispenser on the shower wall and by the sink. I would not use this on my hair, fortunately I had brought my own. Also, the shower water temperature would not stay steady, rather fluctuating between cold and scalding. I was constantly trying to adjust it. Took some of the fastest showers of my life because of this! The hallways are very small and very dark. There is a light you can turn on as you enter the hall (took me 2 days to find) but it is still very very dim and, as a female alone, I was scared at first. It was difficult to even find my room it was so dark. The television only got a couple of English speaking channels, CNN and Bloomberg. Because of the WiFi issue I couldn't download anything to my iTunes to watch.

Worth advising is that there is a card in the lobby offering a shuttle to the airport at a reasonable price. I asked them to make a reservation for me, but the shuttle would not accommodate my time-- either 30 minutes earlier, or 20 minutes later than I felt comfortable with, given that I would be the "last stop" and therefore wasn't confident that it would make it on time. I then asked for a taxi, and they said that if they call a taxi it may be 10 Euro more because they travel to come to the hotel to pick you up. Rip off, but did it anyway. Fortunately I didn't notice that it was more expensive than my trip from the airport to the hotel. None of these transportation issues were the fault of the hotel, but thought I'd make everyone aware.
