“Average hotel - reasonnable price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

Convenient location with regards to public transportation. You can easily reach any location any Paris.
My room was quite big and comfortable but the bathroom was oldish and the room noisy (could hear the client walking in the room above mine.
I would still recommend this hotel for a family of 3 - price / quality alright in that case.

We were put there, rather than chose it (on business for one of the three days) and cannot say I liked it much on arrival. But the welcome at reception by Rose was so friendly, everything felt much better soon.

The hotel is just opposite one of the big transport hubs, with RER direct from Gare du Nord so very useful for Eurostar. You simply roll your suitcase across the Renée Coty Avenue and you´re there.

The double room (#602) was the smallest I´ve even been to, but had two very big windows overlooking the square and that helped a lot for light and for people watching. Also, it being November and only for three nights, the size made us feel young again.

Bathroom was really a cupboard with a bath. Tiny and with a step up from room. Clean enough but showing its age. Also money would have been better spent putting a shower instead of a jacuzzi bath I cannot see anybody ever using as such and that was quite a feat to climb into.

Bed was comfortable and bedlinen very nice.

Breakfast is in a soulless little room right by the street. It comes in a prepacked tray with the usual v. nice baguette, v. nice croissant, industrial spread cheese (in France!), etc. You can take it up to your room if you want (free) or have it delivered (not free). With so many breakfast offers in neighbourhood, if not included in your price it is not really worth it (unless you are lazy, like me).

The room has wi-fi, free but excrutiatingly slow.

We ended up liking a lot this non touristy area of Paris, especially nearby rue Daguerre with its market, its oysters and its très sympa Le Bouquet brasserie that serves the best magret de canard with fried potatoes I´ve eaten in years.

Room Tip: Double glazing excellent, so choose rooms on the avenue side for interest.

Hotel du Midi was very conveniently located for my meeting in Paris. The standard double was small but cozy and adequate for one person. The internet rate of ~ $120/night was quite reasonable for the location and type of hotel. A breakfast was available for 10E more.
the reception was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Choose the standard double even if you are just one person.

We're old customers of this lovely hotel, because the AMAZINGLY perfect location, a very few steps from RER B station, straight from Charles de Gaulle Airport, as well as the spacious rooms and very comfortable beds.
Exit the RER B Station at Denfert Rochereau and just cross the street to Avenue René Coty.. Walk a few steps and voilà, There will be your new home for a few days.
Now, we have a stronger reason to be certain we have the right place to stay while in Paris: this extremely nice and warm hotel has been totally renewed!
It was a very pleasant surprise this time to notice the tiny old elevators are gone, as well as the unsafe luggage storage. It has now a very safe place to store the customers' luggage, and a very modern, more spacious elevator is there, now able to carry two or more people WITH their luggage.

Rooms used to be nice, but now they're just perfect! New carpet, brighter and more illuminated are now exceptionally well fitted for most travellers.
Best news: the young, warm and friendly, very professional multilingual staff is now a must!
This is a very important point to remark, once the previous time we've been there, we felt far from welcomed, more like intruders.
This is all gone! People are REALLY interested in making you feel fine, and most important: they want to know about your experience.

The only point to advise is to avoid, for now, the rooms next to the stairs, which are, sometimes quite noisy with the movement and conversation downstairs at the lobby.
When we pointed this issue, young and highly efficient Mme. Sabine was already aware of that, and assured this problem is already being planned to be solved with more renovations, by moving the lobby at the front of the hotel, as well as a new noise isolation, in order to prevent noises to flow up above.

I'm pretty sure this hotel is on the right path of gaining its 4th star, as long as the staff remains interested in their customers the way they are now.

Room Tip: For now, avoid rooms next to the stairs.

Location is most important for visiting Paris. This hotel with busses, metro and RER on the corner brings you everywhere in notime.
But, also the rooms are spacious and with very comfortable beds, at least for what one could expect in Paris.
This, with the friendly reception and affordable prices makes hotel du midi one of my favorite places to stay in Paris.

Originally planned to stay here one night and then move to St.Germain neighborhood, but loved it so much that we changed our plans and only stayed in St. Germain one night.. This hotel in Montparnasse is perfectly located across the street from a major train line, there's a wonderful bistro down the corner, along with bakeries, a sushi restaurant and its near three other bistros as well as an open air market that is on Wednesdays. Rooms were very nice, large bathrooms with European showers and comfy tubs (very needed after walking all over Paris). Hearty breakfast as well -- many thanks to the woman at the front desk who was so very helpful in getting us the room we wanted, providing directions to sites and restaurants... she did an outstanding job!

A perfect location for exploring Paris as it is next to the RER. The rooms are small, though clean and comfortable. The elevator, though small, can easily handle individual travelers. The reception staff is extremely helpful and friendly, a great help considering the number of tourists visiting the city everyday. Many cafes and restaurants can be found in nearby lanes. Supermarket is also close by. Although being in a convenient location, the nights are quiet.
Overall, a great place to begin our month long holidays in Europe.
