“Comfortable hotel Great Location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2012

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Hotel Ambassade, hotel is located in a great position 5 minute walk to most main attractions including the Arc de Triomphe. On a small side street, 2 minutes walk to local restaurants and bars, all resonably priced (for Paris).
Hotel staff could be alot more welcoming, we were the ones asking all the questions re: room location, breakfast times etc, Just feel the odd smile or hello would be worth it.
Hotel rooms are very small but very cosy, breakfast was simple - but enough to get you started for the day - orange juice is delicious!
Would stay at this hotel again purely for the great location!

Room Tip: Email hotel a few days before travel, ask for higher floor in quiet location (outside niose can be h...

Located 5 minutes walk from Arc de Triomphe on very nice narrow street. A lot of nice restaurants nearby. Not so cheap but for this location is ok. Rooms are extremely small but convenient for one person. Only basic amenities. First I got the not cleaned room and was very surprised. Staff is ok. Breakfast cost extra. Very noisy during the night

Room Tip: Stay only for location

It was ok, but very noisy! Don't get THE room with streetview, garbage truck passes by every morning, waking everybody up.

Also, Skip breakfast here. Not tasty at all! You can beter look for a place nearby wear they serve petite dejeuner

Nothing can beat the location. Ten minutes walk either you choose Trocadero or Champs Elysees. A lot of bars and restaurants close to the hotel. Good sleeping quality cause very quiet street and good beds. Average breakfast. Be aware of tiny, tiny rooms. We've stayed in number one on the ground floor. Small room and small bathroom, but no noice during night time.

Room Tip: Probably a good option to choose rooms on upper floors.

The rooms were clean and nice but extremely small, even for a French hotel. Nevertheless, I feel that we received a good deal and we both enjoyed the hotel. The breakfast was certainly not worth the extra 15 Euros that it cost, so you should get something much better from one of the bakeries a few blocks away. The Wifi was pretty awful here, so don't expect to get too much work done or make phone calls over Skype.

If you're ok with those caveats, it's a great place to stay.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2011

I nearly didn’t stay here at all. I had rented a studio apartment for my four nights in Paris but, by the third night, the sofabed was beginning to do awful things to my back – so I decided to move to a hotel for my last night. I couldn’t have been happier with my choice of the Ambassade.

Price was an issue as I’d already paid for the studio, so to find a hotel like this in one of my favourite parts of Paris for 69 euros per night – well, frankly, it was serendipity. I found it by searching on the Hotels Combined website but, rather than book it immediately, I went round to have look for myself.

I think that I was lucky. I asked the nice man at the front desk if it was possible to see a room and he gave me the keys to number 14, one of the corner rooms. It was charming – one of the largest in the hotel, judging by the fire escape plan on the back of the door – and I loved everything about it. Shame I was only there for a night! The corner “comfort” rooms are usually more expensive than the other rooms (and almost twice the rate that I paid) but, from the sound of it, their size makes them worth the extra money.

The room was on the first floor and had two large, flower-bedecked windows overlooking rue Lauriston and rue Cimarosa. Quirkily shaped, it nevertheless was quite spacious with all mod cons and a generous bathroom with a bath and overhead shower. Some thought had gone into the furniture design with its Art Nouveau-influenced decoration – perhaps a bit heavy, but afternoon sunshine brightened the room. Thick curtains shut out all light at night and I had no problems with street noise. Everything spotless – and a comfortable bed as well! Bliss!

As others have said, the hotel is close to a metro station but also is handy to good bus routes and is a short walk from Trocadéro with its fabulous views of the Eiffel Tower. I often stay nearby in Passy (not in the studio with the sofabed) but was unfamiliar with the area around rue Lauriston; I was pleasantly surprised by the number of eateries in the hotel’s vicinity, so you don’t need to go far for a meal if you don’t want to. I didn’t have breakfast at the Ambassade, so I can’t comment on that.

TA lists the hotel as a three star but it is actually rated as a two star hotel. For me, the rating is not an issue – I love small, modest hotels like this and I can’t praise it highly enough for the value that I received from it. I’m aware that, due to the circumstances of my stay, I could well have looked at the experience through slightly rose-tinted glasses… But, upon reflection, I still think that it’s a very nice little hotel. I usually stay in apartments in Paris but after this experience, I’m tempted to change to hotels for shorter stays – well, to the Ambassade at any rate!

Room Tip: Corner rooms offer more space

This hotel is located on a quiet street a few blocks away from the Trocadero and the Eiffel Tower in one direction and the Arc de Triomphe in the other. Metro stations within easy walking distance.

This is a tiny hotel. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are very small. A shower, toilet and sink are crammed into an impressively small space. The bathroom door couldn't open all the way because it hit the foot of the bed. If you have a lot of suitcases, you'll probably feel cramped. This isn't the place to stay if you plan to spend a lot of time in the room.

However, as a base of operations to see the city, it's perfect. There aren't many other places of this quality that will cost less. The rooms and the hotel in general were clean, the elevator was slow and creaky but it got the job done. Narrow corridors, but what more do you need. A nice spacious, brightly lit lobby with a helpful staff that tolerated my ancient French and spoke English when we needed it. A small sitting area in the lobby where we sat in the evening to play cards before dinner.

Several brasseries and restaurants within a few blocks (although many of them were closed on the weekends). Our favorite was Brasserie Boissiere, just one block away. We became friendly with the owner and went back there several times during our five-day stay. Our room faced the courtyard, so it was mostly quiet except for one night when a neighbor had a TV or radio playing all night long. The bed was a good solid double with duvet. There was a small garment cabinet, a flat-screen TV with plenty of channels suspended above it. Free and reliable Wi-Fi.

This is a hotel we would definitely return to on future trips to Paris. It's a great find.

Room Tip: Courtyard side probably a little quieter than street side.
