“Small but cute.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

Booked this hotel for a last minute family trip to Paris.
it is a basic 2 star but it suited our needs perfectly.
it is close to a Metro station ( Anvers ) which is on the blue number 2 line
there is also a green number 12 line station a 5 mins pleasant walk away
there is a Carefore and plenty of shops and resturants nearby
But no kettle or cups/glasses in the room, so take your own if you want to brew up a nice cup of tea.
we bought a three day, zones 1-3 travel pass which allows travel on ALL transport in the city zone, it even covers the short but very steep cliff railway to sacre coeur, 3 x 3 day pass cost approx 68 euros.
we were in room 68 which is at the rear of the hotel , nice ensuite and quiet ,slept with the windows open very peacefull.
breakfast is charged at 8 euros per person , basic but nice fresh coffee , orange juice, fruit, toast etc
lift very small , a squash for three adults, send your bags up with one person and then you go up , just make sure you are smelling nice with no garlick breath LOL

Very friendly reception, clean bathroom, excellent bed (not too soft!), some noise during the night from the street below but ok with windows shut.

stayed for a night and the hotel was ideal, room was ensuite and clean , the staff were most helpful / friendly, and the location for my purpose was perfect, just had the one day/ night in paris and wanted to visit the old montmare part of town.
metro for getting futher afield was just a minutes walk and the sacre coeur/ montmare no more than 10 mins away.
excellent value .would stay again
anyone wanting to visit the sacre coeur should go early doors before the mobs arrive, wonderful with just a few folks there and a nuns choir singing away,

Room Tip: ask for a room on the top floor with a sea view, got the top floor but had to pay extra for the view

We were in Paris for one night and the location of this hotel was perfect. It was only 10 minutes up the hill from Gare du Nord, while far enough away from the train station area to be in a nice area of Paris. The hotel is located across the road from a park and very close to the metro. The room was small and the bathroom wasn't that wonderful, but the location made up for this. One staff member was very friendly when we arrived, another not so friendly when we checked out, he argued with me about whether our room was prepaid (it was). Overall an average hotel in a great location.

Four of us stayed here for four nights recently the hotel was clean and the staff friendly. If you look for fault you will always find it, as in some of the previous reviews. You have to be sensible you get what you pay for in Paris and this hotel was worth the money for the location alone, we would all stay there again.

LOCATION: This hotel is situated literally 10 minutes walk, albiet sligtly uphill, from Gare du Nord train station. If you would rather use the metro system then there are a few within 150m of the front door. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the Sacre Coeur and about 20mins from the Moulin Rouge. There are hundreds of small cafes and shops around the area and several of the 'tacky' tourists shops as well to keep peple happy.

PRICE: Now, this hotel can be quite expensive depending on time of year etc. You are simply paying for the locationand not a lot else, as explained below.

ROOMS: The rooms are in need or a little TLC. You feel like you are staying in some drab run down establishment on the edge of town rather than the location given. I stayed with many friends here so it wasnt just my room. We had four in total over several floors and they all looked drab. The bathrooms are like cupboards, and i mean its a shower, toilet and a sink you have to squeeze by to get in! Rooms ending in 4, ie 14, 24 etc seem to have a bigger bathroom with a bath and room to swing a cat but any others and you will struggle. The hot water took 18mins to get to the shower from initially turning it on, and this wasnt even duringthe morning rush!

BREAKFAST: Though it did look nice, it was small and expensive, just go eat out around the corner!

HOTEL: The hotel is old like most in Paris and they havent tried to cover this up. The walls between rooms are light paper and you can hear 'everything' through them. And i mean everything, other guests talking quietly to one another in the rooms next door can be heard clearly, as well as more, 'louder' activities which just echo round the corridors!
There are doors constantly slamming and the cleaning staff dont seem to understand that ramming a hoover against a door with Do Not Disturb on it, doesnt make me get out of bed any earlier!

STAFF: Day staff - lovely and polite and helpful with god English/Spanish. Night Staff - rude and aggressive.

OTHER STUFF TO NOTE: You will not get a room with a view of the Eiffel Tower or the Sacre Coeur unless you are on the top suite floors with the balconies. There are no room safes, no mini bars, though you can buy stuff from the vending machines and fridge in reception which is actually quite cheap considering. The mattresses are thin and if you are on the larger side you might just sink in and hit the bed below.

HINTS: Ask for rooms 14, 24, 34, 44 as these will be bigger and have larger bathrooms with a bath and shower. But you wont get a view!

Room Tip: Views of Paris Landmarks only from top floors. Rooms 14, 24, 34, 44 will have bigger bathrooms but...

the location is good, close to the center of paris, easy access around the city. Service was reasonable, but room and shower very small, no room space for the laggage. overcharged price for what you get.
