“Chic boutique hotel, central and perfect launchpad for Paris”

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Josephine for 3 nights in early April. The hotel is a breeze to commute to from Gare du Nord (Eurostar) and is only a 3 minute walk from the nearest underground station - Blanche.
As many people have pointed out, the area is a total red light district (think Soho London in the 80's) but the hotel is conveniently located south of the high street, where the red windmill of the Moulin Rouge looms, in a quieter more residential side road. Check-in in at the hotel was easier than anticipated although the English/French barrier was a little awkward with the concierge on duty. Our room was a little gem - small but tastefully decorated and spotless. The bathroom was new, bright and modern but in keeping with the bijou proportions - beware of the tiny shower! We were on the second floor and our room faced on to the road leading up to the station, so it was a little noisier than I would have liked. Having said that, I am a heavy sleeper and we didn't spend the day in our room, so it didn't particularly bother me. If you shut and lock the windows, most of the noise is kept out. Breakfast was served every morning in the underground dining area. Nice selection of continental staples and a lovely touch is the fresh orange juice machine, which I finally figured out how to work!

Location wise, the hotel was perfect for exploring Paris - we were never further than a 25 minute journey away from all the major sites we wanted to see. We got a great deal through Secret Escapes, which included a boat ride down the Thames - definitely a highlight of the trip. A special thank you to Monica, who is just the most fabulous front of house person. She gave us some great tips and made us feel at home. She is a real asset to the hotel.

We are going to try and make it back to Paris again next year and Hotel Josephine will be top of our list for places to stay.

Room Tip: Choose a room which does not face onto the main road if you're a light sleeper.

We arrived at Hotel Josephine and were immediately greeted by the concierge (who spoke fluent English and French). She gave a breif rundown of the neighborhood, a map, and requested we call the front desk if we needed anything futher.

The hotel is really stylish. The loby and the library were well decorated with splashes of color. The bar operated on the honor system and the elevator was small (quite common in Paris).

The room was great. Due to the well placed furniture, the room felt quite spacious. Our windows faced La Rue Blanche which offered a great view of the cityscape below. With numerous cafes, corner store (located directly across the street), bars, a boulangerie, a metro station, and an ATM in the immediate vacinity, the hotel is located in a pretty active urban area. While convenient - the Moulin Rouge is within walking distance - staying in the the popular area means you'll have the extra city noise. If you're up for a roughly 20 minute walk to dinner theres an excellent authentic italian pizza restaurant called "Il Brigante"; a truly one of a kind dining experience.

We noticed the maids didn't take heed to the "do not disturb" sign, but, they were always kind enough to ensure we had what we needed.

Be sure to do your day's research before sundown - the wifi signal would often weaken at night.

Charming luxurious beautiful-I can't say enough about the physical surroundings. Within walking distance of the metro, moulin rouge and montemarte the location is superb. The staff is amazingly kind and helpful as well as very patient with the non French speaking guest. I only hope we can return!

Three of us spent one night here and it has to rate as the best experience ever. Each and every one of the staff were friendly, helpful and kind. The entrance is so charming - the books, the furniture, the endless nespresso, the honesty bar ..... We were in Paris to celebrate my birthday - a bottle of champagne was sent to the room as a surprise.
The breakfast has to rate amongst the best ever - only 10 euros and everything anyone could want from scrambled eggs, to fruit salad, selection of breads, cheeses etc.
I will never stay anywhere else in Paris.

We stayed for 3 nights from 21 April. The hotel was delightful, decoration is quirky/pretty, lovely lighting and unusual furniture that somehow all works well together. Our room, whilst small had everything we needed, again the decor was different to any other hotel I've stayed in, it was lovely. The staff were fantastic, particularly Monica who did everything possible to help us, ordering taxis, booking restaurants that were suitable for a vegetarian. The breakfast buffet was extensive, not the usual buns and jam, there was scrambled eggs and freshly squeezed orange juice, it was excellent for money. There as a free cocktail every night and while there wasn't a proper bar there was an honesty bar with fridge containing soft drinks and bubbly, brandy and whisky etc., were also available. All in all we were very impressed and would definitely stay again.

Just back from a 3 night stay at Hotel Josephine and it is a delight. Firstly the location is ideal. A few minutes walk from the Metro, a short walk up hill to the heart of Monmartre and there are some great bars and restaurants even closer.
We were given such a warm welcome and every member of staff was so helpful and friendly.
The double room had everything we needed with the best shower I have ever used. It was comfortable with a good bed, not a spacious room, but it is Paris. The coffee machine foxed us but one of the staff came and gave us a lesson straight away. The only issue was no air con. It was being fixed all week but they gave us a fan for the room as soon as we asked. The wi-fi worked very well.
The reception area is very bohemian and has a free Nespresso machine. Every eve from 6-8pm they serve Absinthe or cocktail of the day, with nibbles. All free of charge. Honesty bar should you want a drink later.
Breakfast in converted cellars was excellent and sensible times - 6.30-10.30am.
We would go back like a shot

Room Tip: We were happy on 2nd floor but go higher if you want to leave french window open all night

Thank you so much for the great time at your Hotel. The kids (7 and10) loved it as well. The service was so friendly and helpful, the location fantastic, a sweet lobby and very good breakfast only the room was very small and a dark.
