“Over booked and outta luck”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

Several days earlier, reserved room for two adults and one child with Marriott via their telephone reservations system. Arrived at Paris Marriott at 2pm with reservation and confirmation number. Told by the woman at the front desk 'we have no record of your reservation and we are full', 'there is nothing we can do for you'. With that, me my wife and child, were forced to walk around Paris for an hour to find another hotel. Luckily it only took us about an hour as most hotels were very busy. This happened once before at a hotel in London, however the London hotel had the decency to phone around and find us another place to stay. In this case, we were just told to leave. Tried to reach to reach the Front Desk Manager, Ms. Haggquist, told, 'she was busy'. Really have no words to describe this type of treatment.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

My wife and I stayed for 5 days around Christmas. The location is great, about 6 minute walk from the Opera Garnier (the 10 Euro Roissybus from CDG begins/ends here). Close to a handful of Metro stops (including Opera, a major stop). Very close to Galleries Lafayette and Printemps. Many restaurants/bars an easy walk (including: Starbucks, Hard Rock, Harry's, etc.). Not too far to walk to the Louvre, Notre Dame, etc.
Check in/out was fast and efficient. As with some other Marriotts in Europe, they push room upgrade at check-in (even have a paper with rates and benefits).
The hotel is older, but we found it well maintained and clean. We upgraded from a "gold" level room to an Executive level room for 60 euro/night. For that we got a larger room on the 3rd floor overlooking Blvd Haussman. Double doors (which opened); room was not noisy. Room was very nice size with very comfortable king sized bed (a 4 poster; the one pictured by another reviewer (Room 313)). Bathroom had a tub/shower, double sink, separate room for the toilet. The side on the tub was a bit high and you definitely have to "step up and over" to get into the tub/shower. No problem with the room.
As mentioned by others, the executive lounge was a bit disappointing. It is on the 8th floor, nice size and OK appointments with a view of the Eiffel Tower from the window seats. There is a nice breakfast buffet in the morning; standard fare but good. Soft drinks/water (usually) and coffee/tea (nice all-in-one machine) are available during the day. Evening includes drinks (typically vodka, gin, whiskey, rum, 2 wines and vermouth) and very simple hors d'oeuvres. Hors d'oeuvre s and drinks (including water, for some reason) not always replenished.
The gym is basic with a couple of aerobic machines (stepper, treadmill) and weights; towels, water, and fruit available.
Note: taxi fare was 5 Euro to Notre Dame and 10 Euro to Eiffel Tower.
Overall we were happy with the hotel and would stay here again. Great location and Marriott standards make it a relatively safe bet, especially if you are not all that familiar with Paris.

A typical 4 star hotel. It isn't great, but it is good enough. I've been here a week and would use it again as a 'utility hotel' for visits to Paris. It is certainly not luxurious but the room was clean and the barman made a decent cocktail.

The only meaningful negative was that it was a bit noisy in the mornings. A lot of noise carried from the corridor into my room. I tend to sleep until 10am though, so that isn't entirely unreasonable.

It lacks a wow factor, but provided you aren't trying to impress anyone it is absolutely fine.

As a Marriott gold member and Hyatt platinum I am used to staying at plenty of hotels. This one is nice, but not a 4 star. The rooms are small, many skittle things like bits of mildew, rust, and chips. Lounge is adequate at best. Staff is not overly accommodating.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a travel package. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished. The first room we had a noise issue, some problem with the air conditioning. The staff quickly moved us to another room which was perfect. The concierge desk was helpful in their recommendations. The daily breakfast was good and filling although not exciting and didn't change at all from day to day. As for the location. It was perfect for us. Had nearby metro stops and was close to cafes, shops and of course the Galeries Lafayette. We would definitely stay here again when we are in Paris.

Great location, very convenient to Metro stops, shopping. Concierge was a great help in making restaurant reservations. Breakfast in concierge level was excellent. The cocktail hour munchies could be improved. Was expecting a bit larger room, as we are Marriott Platinum, but the room was clean and the bed is great.
