“Dark and noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago NEW

I paid for a the larger room, and indeed it was spacious with a decent sized bathroom, a coffee machine, a fridge with free soft drinks and a fluffy bathrobe. Unfortunately the room was under-lit and depressing with an industrial dark brown floor covering and no decoration or charm. My room was on the first floor overlooking the Rue de l'Arcade. The noise starts at around 4am and a constant procession of rubbish collection and delivery vans keeps you awake until dawn. Not a good experience and I won't be going back.

Accor Mercure are known for a good quality hotel. Unfortunately, this hotel can hardly be rated a 4-star. Apart for an excellent location, it suffers from its unwelcoming entrance, not really efficient front desk staff, variable house keeping cleaning standard, minute breakfast room with a very poor selection.

Room Tip: Take the prestige

Stayed a night last week. The hotel is superbly located and well valued. Staff are very nice and helpful. The room had a cheap feel for a four star hotel and had had people smoking in the room. However cannot really complain as the price was really good for such a superb location.

Very small rooms and very small bed.
No fridge in the room although it is a 4 star hotel.
Location great.
Value for money is average, however the staff were helpful

I stayed in a standard double room ,

3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2014 via mobile

The Mercure Royal Madeleine is located near various important sites in Paris. Only a few minutes walk from the beautifull La Madeleine, the major department stores Printemps and Galeries Lafayette and very close to the iconic Rue St Honore. Famous club Buddha Bar is at 300 meters. Sub around the corner. P garage als well. Various nice restaurants and brasseries can be found just across the street. The immediate vincinity of the hotel is very quiet which contributes to the hotel comfort. The rooms are nice and clean and altough small they are comfortable. All basic needs are provided when staying in a Privilege room. Don't be disappointed. The first impression of the room will not give the right impression. It actually is better then you think. a Comfortable bed and all facilities needed are there. Unfortunately the rooms are poorly ventilated. An elevator is at your service. All in all not a bad place to stay. When the rooms and lobby would be modernized it would be great. For now I would say; a 6 ( measured between 0 and 10, 0 being very poor) for the hotel and a 9 for the location. Would I go back? At least to the location.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2014

This was a brilliant little hotel. A central position near to the Champs Elysees and in a central location for the Metro and bus routes.
I am a Mercure loyalty card holder so we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find we were upgraded to a Privilege room. This meant a more spacious room, with complimentary soft drinks in the mini fridge, a nespresso coffee machine and a spacious bathroom with a bath/shower over. The shower was powerful and very hot.
The room was on the fourth floor, overlooking a central courtyard which was perfect for us as I had requested a quiet room. There were floor to ceiling blackout curtains which helped us to sleep later than normal.
We found 4 pillows on the bed, 2 firm and 2 soft which I found to be a good balance. The bed was firm and comfortable, there was a desk area with chair and a small wardrobe with electric safe.
The weather was unusually warm so we didn't require any heating but the radiators worked well and there was an air conditioning unit that we could have controlled, had we needed it.
We didn't take the breakfast as I felt it was quite expensive, although a similar price to other hotels. There is a bakery opposite the hotel which serves breakfast offers and take aways, including coffee.

Room Tip: We had room 414 which was very quiet.
