I stayed for two nights in the Hotel Champerret-Élysées in October 2012. It was a last-minute booking as we’d spent ages trying to find a relatively central hotel (e.g. not out by Disneyland Paris or either of the airports), at a reasonable price and with reasonably good reviews – not an easy task! It turned out to be a really good find. The hotel is not exactly central (although the Arc de Triomphe is about 25-30 minutes walk away in one direction, and the Bois de Boulogne about the same in another direction), but it’s in a nice area with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants nearby (I recommend the Espace Saint-Cyr, about 5 minutes' walk away on the Boulevard Gouvion-Saint-Cyr), and is just across the street from the nearest Metro (Porte de Champerret). It’s a clean, comfortable, nicely decorated and furnished hotel (although some of the rooms are quite small), with a nice bar downstairs for a quiet drink at the end of the evening. The breakfast room is a fairly good size and not too cramped (unlike some Paris hotels) and the breakfast – typical Continental style, with croissants, jam, cheese, cold meats etc – is decent. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a decent hotel, who can’t afford to spend the huge amounts that most good Paris hotels cost and doesn’t mind not being right in the centre of things.
