“Nice Hotel next to the train station”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

The hotel was newly renovated with modern design. The room was spacious, clean, and staffs were very freindly and helpful. The plus value of this hotel is they know how to made us happier on our honeymoon trip by complimenting us with champagne and fruits.
It's a very good hotel for guest who need a hotel near the train station.
Thanks for the great service!

We chose this hotel because of its location and it having a pool. We stayed for 4 nights in August 2013. We wanted a place near Gare de Lyon so that we could rent a car and head south right after our stay, without going all the way through Paris. It is perfect for that.
The hotel is nice, the staff is professional and helpful. They all speak English.
We did not eat at the restaurant nor did we use the bar. The pool is super small, but fine for the kids to splash around in. The area surrounding the hotel is busy, which we liked because there were lots of placed to eat. The river is about 5 blocks away, which makes it east to walk along to get to places like the Louve, Notre Dame, etc. without getting lost. We walked along the river everyday and loved it.
I recommend this place for families (or couples) who want to be in the southern end of Paris but yet near enought o walk to everything.

This hotel is close to Gare de Lyon Station. It is very well appointed. Great bed, refrigerator, amenities etc. curtains didn't block all of the light at night but everything else was excellent. Staff very friendly and accommodating. would have like to have stayed longer.

Room Tip: can ask for an upgraded room for little extra cost if you need more room.

We really enjoyed our three nights in the Novotel Gare de Lyon. It was busy with lots of families and business people. Rooms were big enough for 4 of us to share, pool was small but big enough for the kids to have a bit of fun.
Good location for Gare de Lyon station which is only a couple of stops from central Paris.

We ate in restaurant.... Food was good, service was a bit patronising. Ordered bottle of white wine - it arrived, I tasted it and it wasn't chilled at all. When I told waitress she said "I know the fridge isn't working!" We asked for ice which she brought. Now I'm not being pedantic but in France wouldn't you expect white wine to be served chilled? Additionally I am sure that they wouldn't have served it that way to a French person. Later when the meals arrived same waitress brought my meal with the wrong side order. When I mentioned this she raised her eyebrows said she'd bring what I ordered and walked away from the table "ooo la la ing" all the way across the room!

Breakfasts were great and in general staff very well informed and helpful.

We had one of the older style rooms with a pod bathroom and separate toilet - you wouldn't want to be plus size n the toilet - it was a bit awkward when normal size!!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the renovated rooms!

Like others the primary reason for booking this hotel was it's proximity to the Gare de Lyon for an early train down to the South. The location is great for the Station which is right next door and a minute away through the rear entrance of the Hotel. Booking in was easy and we had been upgraded to a refurbished exec room. This had a very modern look and feel to it with a glass screen to the bathroom that you could obscure at the touch of a button, very trendy but a bit of a nuisance when paying a visit in the middle of the night and you light up the whole bedroom when you turn the bathroom light on!!! Bed very comfortable and daughter reported that her bed settee was also comfortable which is not always the case. We also had a day in Paris before going down to the South and whilst the hotel is a couple of miles from the usual attractions it is very convenient for the Metro which gives easy access to the City Centre. Had worried about previously reported concerns about the surrounding area but didn't particularly find this to be an issue although we were not out and about that late at night. Breakfast in the hotel was very nice with lots of choice of fruits, pastries and cooked items. An additional nice touch was a children's entertainer in the restaurant at breakfast time face painting etc. in summary we were very pleased with the choice of hotel that gave us clean, comfortable and good value accommodation for our couple of nights in Paris.

If you don't mind a little walking you van see a lot of Paris from here. Right next to a train station so you can explore greater France also. Rooms are a bit small but fits in for Europe. Had breakfast one morning which was okay but there are nice cafe's close by to try. A little pricy but location has a lot to do with that.
