“Good small hotel in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Hotel Beaugency is a great small hotel in the Rue Cler area. It is literally a 1 minute walk to Rue Cler and was a great place for an overnight stay in Paris. The room was a great size for Paris, the staff was very helpful and spoke English. We had a lovely view of the Eiffel Tower from our window. It is not fancy, but clean and a good price for Paris.

I found the staff very helpful. Some much more friendlier than others, but none ever hesitated with all of our requests of various needs such as dinner suggestions, dinner reservations, calling our next hotel to ensure a late arrival, calling taxis, etc. I found the room size to be the same "snug size" as anything of this hotel rating in London or Rome. But the bathrooms were larger than anything we have had in either Paris or Rome. The bathrooms are newly renovated with travertine tile, tub, shower, heater, hair dryer, stocked mini frig (move things around to fit your stuff in) under the counter. Bed was comfortable and firm. We cracked the window open a bit as it was very warm inside. Moderate size flat screen tv suspended from the wall received CNN and BBC in English, most of the rest in French. But good to check the weather. No issues with cleanliness, the room was cleaned daily. Elevator is tight as all the others in Europe. One person and luggage at a time or 2 persons no luggage. I didn't eat the breakfast here as there are so many choices on Rue Cler and beyond. The Rue Cler neighborhood with restaurants, bistros, wine and cheese stores, Eiffel Tower nearby, maybe 5 minute walk to Ecole Militare Metro stop, and 1 convenience store and 1 grocery store next to the Metro stop are just some of the reasons for staying at Hotel Beaugency.

Room Tip: Most that we talked to in the hotel thought it was too warm in the rooms at night and slept with the...

Polite and helpful staff. Not friendly but doing their job professional. The room was not more than 10 sqm which might be under the Paris hotel rooms’ average and this is for Eu 130 without breakfast. It was difficult to place two mid-size suitcases. The Hotel is generally clean however I found three black moulds in the bathroom enough disgusting. After asking the receptionist to clean them about 80% of one of them was removed. I had another problem with the cleaner: she left the window open in the morning so when we returned around 8.00 PM it was about 10 degree in the room. I reported it to the night Receptionist who did not speak English so I tried my poor French but next morning I talked to the daytime Receptionist as well but I have not heard an „our apologies” neither of them. The room was quiet which is very important for me. Contrary to other comments I was not very impressed by the location. The next RER Station is about 1 km and Metro is about 500 m which is not very convenient with the luggage. Eiffel Tower is appr 20 min walk. In terms of restaurants and food stores it is good.

Room Tip: Room nr 24 is a very small but quiet room.

My wife and I stayed here for the last three nights of our trip through Europe. The Hotel is located in the Rue Cler district very near some great restaurants and a 15-20 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. The room was quite "cozy" but adequate and had a shower (which was a must for my wife!). The staff was helpful with directions on how to take the Metro to the Louvre and with dinner recommendations. Breakfast was a little pricey at 9 Euro, but it did the job.

We found this hotel through a Rick Steves guidebook and got a 10% discount on our last 3 nights although we were required to pay the full rate and a booking fee for the first night. The location is great in the rue Cler district - close to lots of places to eat and also a Metro station.

The staff was mixed - some at the front desk were helpful, others not so much. Our room was VERY small (room 14) and the shower was awful - the hand-held shower was difficult to use but if we left it on the wall, it sprayed all over the place. The shower curtain was hard to close so we always had water on the floor. Hair dryer was built-in and had a hose and wasn't very powerful. We had 2 pieces of luggage and barely had room to get around the bed in the room. The room was clean. Never could get the heat adjusted so always had to sleep with the windows open which wasn't a big deal in October but might be at other times of the year.

If you book transportation to the airport, do it well in advance and ask for them to be there earlier than you wish - ours was 15 minutes late and said it was due to "traffic" which is always an issue. We were also quoted two different rates for the shuttle.

We emailed the hotel a few weeks before and asked them so we could have a room with a view of the Eiffel Tower - which they provided. Waking up to that view was brilliant and at night when the lights are on is something special. It was great we could see the Eiffel Tower from the room and bathroom, lol.

Location wise its great only a few mins from the metro, a short walk to the Eiffel Tower.

Rooms are small like most Parisian hotels, bathroom a good size. Lift was small so if you have a phobia of tight spaces, maybe avoid at all costs.

Great location for shopping, sight seeing, nice restaurants and cafes nearby.

Overall a great little hotel with friendly staff.

Room Tip: Email the hotel before you go and ask for a room with a view of the Eiffel Tower. We stayed in Room...

The hotel was updated since the photos in the website were taken, and what a pleasant surprise! Our room and the bath were roomy and sparkling clean. The beds were comfy, and the staff was accomodating. The lift was not an issue with us, as we used it daily and found it was adequate for the two of us and our luggage. We concluded that if they offered a better breakfast, the hotel could be considered perfect.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor in a twin room for three nights. Our room faced south looking onto the c...
