“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2009

I was exetremely suprised by how big the room was compared to a hotel I previously stayed in Paris. We had an amazing view of St Augustin Chapel. There was a separate shower from the bathroom but that was fine. Its quite near to the metro and the staff were very helpful. Also quite close to the shops which for two girls was great! Everything was clean and there was a lovely atmosphere. It was exetremely cheap 220 euros for 3 nights. Would come back to this hotel again if I returned to Paris and will be recomending all my friends. If your local for a cheap weekend away in a clean hotel room with amazing views this is the place for you.

Functional and passable, the Quality Hotel Malesherbes is like many "Quality" or "Best Western" branded hotels in Paris, that is to say, small old hotels that have been consumed by these international brands to be managed as revenue-streams to a "satisfactory" level, nothing more.
This hotel, like the others, have small and/or odd-shaped rooms and is updated with a few modern touches, such as a small flatscreen tv and a renovated clean bathroom. The sheets and bed linens are good and clean.
The hotel is located on a pretty square, beside one of Paris's many beautiful churces and with many Parisien streetside cafes nearby. It's only a short stroll 10minutes down the road to other sites, such as La Madeliene church, the Opera Garnier or the big department stores on the Grands Boulevards. However, the neighborhood doesn't bubble or sizzle, as much of it is occupied by business and stately upscale bigger apartments.
Average. But amongst the average hotels, not an especially good one.

My husband and I spent 1 night at this hotel. We booked it for its location. We know the area and we know that it can be difficult to find a reasonably-priced hotel...We got a deal for €120/night with breakfast. This was good for us.
The hotel is minutes away from the Haussman Boulevard, the Champs-Elysées, the St Lazare station, etc... Can't beat its location.
The room was small (but that seems to be the case for most 3* hotels in Paris), but very clean and comfortable. Nice king size bed, good mattress. And even though we were on the main road, I have to say that it was very quiet... (and we stayed there on a Saturday night!)something that is rare to find in Paris.
The staff were very nice, very helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was good...Continental or a choice of eggs (you need to ask for them)...Again, very nice staff.
I would stay there again.

This hotel is clean and rooms are spacious, for Paris standards. It is great for tourism, if you want to be able to walk to most museums. The neighbourhood is great for sightseen, but not so much for partying.
I had a hard time finding my way to the hotel from Saint Lazare metro station, but it is actually two blocks away so ... if you are taking the metro from the airport, make sure that you carry a map of the area with you!

We stayed at this hotel for three enjoyable nights. I was a little skeptical based on some other reviews, but I think those people who complained wouldn't have been happy wherever they stayed. We are not French-speaking, but the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Here's a hint: start your conversation with "Bonjour, Parlez-vous anglais?" and a smile anywhere you go in Paris, and you'll see how nice your experience will be.

To contradict other reviews, here are some observations: Our room was clean and spacious. The shower was a little tricky. We had a full-size tub with shower head, but there was a glass door on only half of one side, and some overspray sometimes resulted in a bit of water on the floor - we put down a towel and it wasn't an issue. Water pressure was nice. The full-size hair dryer worked great.

Location was very convenient. If you have a minute, go inside the St. Augustin Cathedral across from the hotel. The fabulous view from our window beconed us to take a peak. We walked to the Paris Open Tour office, after getting directions from the staff. It was close (10 min. walk) and there are neat shops along the way. We used the bus and boat tour package to see a lot of the city and then went on our own excursions.

We didn't use the breakfast room. The Monoprix grocery store is about a 2-minute walk, so we purchased fruit, yogurt and pastries to eat in our room. We used the mini bar refrigerator to store drinks and yogurts. There's a great little pastry shop across from the St. Augustin Metro stop (the closest one to the hotel) so be sure to visit. Also, there are a few nice brasseries within sight of the hotel if you want to stay close.

After checkout, we used a private shuttle to get from the hotel back to CDG airport, which we highly recommend. It was 17 Euro each, and very efficient. It was much better than trying to navigate via bus and Metro, which is the way we arrived for check-in. The hotel staff made our reservations after we inquired. (There's an advertisement sign right at the counter.) I think they offer transport from the airport to the hotel as well, which I wish we would have known about before check-in.

For the value, don't hesitate in selecting this hotel. Have a positive attitude - you're on vacation, after all. You'll no doubt have a nice experience like we did.

Before booking the hotel I read about problems with overbooking that previous visitors had written to this web page. Still I gave this hotel a try and I shouldn't have! As soon as we arrived in the afternoon we were told that hotel was full and we had to move to another hotel. This hotel didn't even paid us a taxi. We had gotten a proper confirmation of the reservation and the hotel even had my cell phone number with it, but they didn't let us know in advance of such a problem. Very disappointed with this hotel.

Before leaving to Paris for New Year's eve, I searched reviews on the internet about this hotel, I found 2 or 3 bad reviews from 15 total; one of these said that quote: "..., but were told that there was a 'technical problem' with our room. We were moved to another hotel down the road, which was serviceable, ...".

So we arrive finally to the Hotel Quality which was easy to find, the first thing we are told after we said our name, was literally there is a technical problem with our room... to me it sounded like a joke really, because I couldnt believe they would say exactly what I read here as a review :( it sounded like is first thing they say! the receptionist even said well its up to you if you want to take the hotel across the street or not... rude, but it was late we were tired, we took it...

My husband and I found important to let know this, to us it seems that they double booked our room... that there was not such problem... anyway... we were obviously moved to a hotel accross the street, in this new hotel you could see it was a bit different but still we had to pay the same rate (incl. breakfast though)... then the room smelled bad (lets say bareable for the night, could be fixed with a bit of parfum) we slept there...

The next night we got to go back to the Quality hotel, the room was nicer than the one last night, didnt have any smells and had a nice view of St. Agustin's church... we got a champagne for the 31st and my husband also managed to get us the breakfast for the next day... of course was for the problems caused to us on moving hotels for our first night on Dec. 30th. BTW as we returned, the receptionist (different from the night before) said to us 'the technical problem' with our room (turned into) was that their system double booked the room for the first night and that this happens in almost every hotel in paris (to me it didnt happen before, high season or not...)

Our advice would be to not go to this hotel on high season, avoid to get moved, this hotel is nice when you want to stay in a central place and there is less chance to get moved. When you read that the 'technical problem' happens once its suspicious, twice tried to avoid it...
