My daughter and I just returned from a three day jaunt in Paris with two friends. We booked three rooms through Hotels.com - 2 "superior" and 1 standard. The rates for all three were excellent, given the property and location. But we did find very strange inconsistencies in the service and rooms. The lowest rate room was the nicest with the most room and the best view. The service to this room was also better - twice daily service. The other two rooms did not have turn down, and on one day, I had to call housekeeping twice in order to get large bath towels which were not replaced during the daily service which was not done when we stopped by thge hotel at 4pm one day. There were other strange misses as well eg. breakfast orders - "continental breakfast" at 25 Euros - one was delivered with twice the food, and the other was shortchanged on two of the promised items?! All in all though, for the price we paid, we were satisfied - the concierge was helpful with two restaurant reservations and a timely taxi to the airport. The location is great - metro directly across the street and Poilane bakery just around the corner. Would not pay full price, but off-price, it is great.

We stayed at the Lutetia during the Bastille celebrations. We booked a suite and had a quarter view of the Eiffel Tower. Despite the expense of the room, the bathroom had a number of tiles missing and loose, mould had set in and the hand rail fell off when we touched it. We complained and the duty manager even expressed surprised at the damage which left me wondering how often the rooms were checked. He did however upgrade us to the Eiffel Suite - a fabulous three room suite with a full view of the Eiffel Tower which was perfect for viewing the fireworks. We had a wonderful time. Overall I enjoyed the hotel, the staff were friendly, the service good and I loved the art deco decor however it is looking shabby and as we found in a state of some disrepair.

The Hotel Lutetia is a first class hotel in a prime position for shopping - Saint Germain, Monpanasse, and next to Bonne Marche. Ideal walking distance for visiting Les Invalides, Muse D'Orsay, Louvre and Notre Dame. Surrounded by interesting restaurants for all budgets, the hotel has a good classic restaurant and an excellent brasserie with shellfish specialities. It has an intimate cocktail bar and lounge.
Stay in a site of modern history - the Belle Epoque designed hotel was the Paris residence of the Gestapo in WWII and after the liberation was used as an hospital for the returning victims of the camps and deportation.
Tip - upgrade to a superior room as some standard rooms are overly small and in need of refurbishment.

We found the Hotel Lutetia Paris to be perfect in every way with impeccable service and spacious elegant rooms. The location right in the heart of Saint-Germain des Pres on the Left Bank was convenient for sightseeing and close to fashionable shops and cafes. We enjoyed the full American breakfast each morning and dinner in the gourmet restaurant was excellent, as well. Overall, we felt this hotel surpassed our expectations and we plan to return on our next visit to Paris.
