This hotel has now taken the number one spot in our list of worst hotels we've stayed in, and we travel many times a year and stay in many hotels all over the world. We try to stick to the Accor group where it suits, however this hotel should be swiftly ejected from that group.
The hotel building itself is ok, we stayed in a top floor loft room, however there is no room which gets you away from the large scale construction going on all sides of the building. Extremely noisy everywhere on every side, with another year to go before it's finished.
The location itself is not too bad, however the immediate vicinity is very 'multicultural' and a little rough at night. Anytime you want to go out, you need to walk 6 blocks away at least to get to a nice area or wait for a taxi.
Where this hotel really falls short is the complete lack of any competency of both the management and the staff. We stayed there for 6 nights and it took them 4 days to sort out a mini bar fridge which would work - we had crucial medicine with us which needed to be kept cold at all times, but between the house keeping staff, the reception and then the management, it took four days and what seemed like hours of hassles to get it sorted out. They just couldn't get it together.
The breakfast room is far too small for the capacity of the hotel, and there were very lengthy delays in getting seated for breakfast - don't pay for breakfast as part of the room rate, walk a few blocks up the road to a cafe. As well, the breakfast that was on offer in the buffet was very much below par. France, the country of beautiful food, Novotel, the hotel of rubbish food.
On two occasions we ordered a taxi at the front desk to get to pre arranged dinner reservations at restaurants, only to be told to sit in the foyer and they would let us know when the taxi arrived. 15 minutes later we checked how it was going to be told that the taxi driver came in, the clerk called our room and as we weren't there (because we were told to wait in the foyer by the same clerk) that taxi left and we missed our reservations.
These may all seem like small issues, however I can just assure everyone it is a small example of the complete incompetence and unprofessional conduct of the staff and management.
I will never stay here again and will certainly be writing to the Accor group and letting them know how bad it was.
