“Worst hotel I have ever seen.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

WARNING!! Please DO NOT go here! Don't waste your precious money.. we are currently awaiting some kind of compensation from Thomas Cook for actually down right lying to us about this being a four star. It's not even a one star!!!! Good location but that's IT. As soon as we walked up to the entrance the glass in the door was smashed, tiles cracked and welcome mat dirty and sodden. Rude staff didn't even greet us. Room was despicable. Dirty carpets, mouldy windows and doors, battered in door lock, non working safe, "mini bar" was an empty fridge, tv tucked behind the worn down wardrobe, shower head left lying in the middle of the bath with nothing to hold it onto the wall and no shower curtain, mouldy sink and bath, hairdryer was from the 1920s, broken toilet seat and cracked tiles around the toilet. Beds were dirty, sheets and towers not changed for the horrible 3 days we had to endure there.
AVOID.

A lot of people are commenting that this is not a "four star" hotel. However, remember that the star rating describes that available services that a hotel offers and is not a "luxary" ranking.

The hotel is old and the carpets and paint are not in good condition.... But it is not bad. If you would like a basic hotel in a GREAT location... this is it. If you are looking for a romantic hotel full of luxary... This is not the hotel for you.

My room was small but that is normal in Paris. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. If you can get a ggod deal and are only looking for a basic room, I can recommend this hotel.

I have never left a bad hotel review, but this has to be the VERY WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. On arrival my husband and I and our travelling companions were given two rooms with beds that could be called slightly larger than single. We managed to be changed to two twin bedded rooms thankfully.

A four star hotel carries certain expectations - namely -

a half decent bed
tea/coffee making facilities
a complimentary bottle of water
a porter to take bags up to the room
a decent breakfast
pleasant surroudings
a certain standard of cleanliness
a mini bar
decent toiletries
a safe which works
a functioning hairdryer

My experience of the Normandy hotel's four star rating included none of the above. Basic requirements I think.

Something's gone sorely wrong here - what can the management be thinking about? The Paris Tourism board must be out of their tiny minds to maintain this hotel as a four star because it needs closing down or new management!

Room Tip: Avoid at all costs!

This hotel is so well located, it's close to the Louvre, l'Opera, Tuileries.... You can't ask for more. Walking into the hotel is such a lovely experience. The rooms however are somewhat stark. The rooms are big but feel a little hollow. The noise level is much higher than other hotels I've stayed in Paris. But it is Paris and you're not there to sleep but live the city. Some rooms actually have views of the Eiffel Tower.

There is a wonderful Italian restaurant just across the street and one block away a little cafe that has the tastiest breads you can find.

It is worth staying but it is a 3 - 31/2 star.

Room Tip: Great Italian restaurant across the street.

The main draw of this hotel is the location, so close to the Louvre. First impression was of a broken glass door and a tired looking reception area. Its an older hotel but the room itself was bright and spacious with a comfortable bed. A very small TV perched on an empty fridge, a stand alone air con unit (that wasn't connected properly) and wifi were also present. The en suite bathroom was perfectly fine and clean. The whole place just needs some TLC......its more like a 2 star hotel as it is.

Not a bad location, but the hotel is very shabby and definitely not 4 star (more like 2 star). This is not just a question of decor. The breakfast is awful. The service is poor and beware of the 'friendly' concierge who will unashamedly recommend you and your family to eat in a hugely overpriced disgusting tourist trap of a restaurant (vins et maree).

Normandy hotel is far away from a 4 stars hotel, it can be rated as zero star hotel! Being serious.
Before even entering you can already see that the window door is cracked. The carpet everywhere at the entrance, on the stairs and in the rooms is full of stains and dirty.
The bar is really smelly and usually closed. Even when they say it's open, there is nobody there.
No mini bar, no kettle for a coffee and no room service.
It's a very sleazy place where to stay at. They think they can take advantage of tourists, that's their strategy.
The room are old, the wall paper is unaccaptable and the bathroom disgusting. What catched my attention was the noise of the floor when I stepped in the room..... I thought the wood would collapse underneath my feet!!!!!!!!!!
Breakfast is not worth 12 euros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheapest choice of croissants, bread and eggs, which look almost green instead of yellow! I tried it once just because in that moment I was feeling too lazy to go outside... and it was a very bad idea!! I would rather suggest the bakeries nearby, there is a couple at rue de Saint Honoré which are really nice.
Only good thing: people at conciergerie. Friendly and helpful.
What i'm trying to say is that all the stuff they say in their website is untrue, they trick people, so just be aware of this, before booking!!! I would suggest to avoid this hotel, anyways.
