“Nice, but cramped”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

Hotel Beaumarchais is cheerfully decorated in primary colors, and the staff is courteous and helpful. The room was clean and the beds were of good quality, giving very good support. The room size is quite small, however. Our particular room (#34) had a bathroom of reasonable proportions, but the bedroom itself was tight. We were pleased to have 2 windows we could open, although the view was of another building across the street. There is an elevator, but it is miniscule, with room for 2 if you don't mind a bit of a snuggle. There was a problem with the WiFi in the room at first, but it was fixed reasonably quickly. We did not eat the breakfast in the hotel, but chose to walk down the street to a local brasserie for le petite dejeuner. The location is OK, as there are 2 Metro stops within easy walking distance, and there are good restaurants not far away (e.g., Chez Jenny near la Republique Metro).

Cheap hotel near the metro, which is good, but owner smokes anda pparently allows smoking in rooms. Tiny little elevator holds 2 people. Older place, hasn't been updated in a while. Tiny little shower with barely enough room to move around. Owner is very nice though, and gave good tips and directions.

I stayed for three days. Room was small but colorful (in a nice way). Hotel staff were very helpful. Did not take the bundled b&b offer as it was way more expensive than paying for breakfast separately. Conveniently located with different options of travel easily within reach.

Stayed only one day, a single room. It was good enough for only one person. It looks a little out of maintenance, mainly the bathroom, the door didn't shut and curtains looked a bit dirty. So again, for one person is OK but having 2 or more, people that might be an issue. A little smelly too. Since you get into the lobby you perceive a smell to petrol or some chemicals. In the room was barely noticeably though. A little noise but not something disturbing.

Well located (about 1km from Notre Dame) and less than 2 blocks from 2 metro stations. Staff was friendly and speak English, wich was important for me as I don't speak any French whatsoever. Checkin and checkout processes very fast.

All in all I recommend it if you only want some place to crash on your bed after visiting paris all day long.

The room was clean and had everything I needed. However, as a young female travelling solo (which I do often, and have a great deal of experience with), I would NOT recommend the location. If you have someone to walk around at night with, it might be worth considering. However, the location (while not too far off the beaten path) was a bit on the sketchy side.

Great location but lacks the nice touches that make a reasonable hotel great. First room had a wet mattress second room a broken shower. Doors didn't shut propertly and you can forget closing the bedroom window. Needs a complete overhaul.

POSTIVES: This was perfect for me for a few days. I was rarely in my room because i was out taking advantage of the city. Therefore i felt it was a perfect medium in the fact that i had a clean room with the basic amenities. It was close to several transportation lines and the district felt very safe. The staff was friendly and helpful. NEGATIVE: The breakfast cost per day was a bit unexpected as i thought it was included in the room rate. Also i never did figure out how to use the safe box (so be sure to ask). The cleaning chemicals were a bit strong but at least i knew it was clean ( so it may not be a true negative but im sensitive to smells). OVERALL For a solo traveler this was a good option and i may decide to stay again if in ever traveling solo thru Paris again.
