We chose this hotel because it was near the Gare du Nord and we were leaving Paris the next day. The accommodation was for 4 and for that was reasonably priced. However the room was 'faded' and a strange layout with very little room to move and no spare space. The room was however comfortable (regarding beds), had air conditioning and was clean and had free wifi. Staff were fine. The room was on the 6th floor and the lift only went to the 5th floor, which may be an issue for some. The gearing for the lift was on the 6th floor next to the room but in fact was not as noisy as we expected. The hotel was hard to find in that it was on the Rue de Magenta and is part of the Avalon hotel - so enter via that. The location is very convenient for the Gare du Nord and we walked to Montmartre and Sacre Coeur without much trouble but the area is 'interesting' to say the least in terms of local population. Might not be ideal for families at night. Probably great for bargain shopping though. The most disappointing aspect was the breakfast - continental is ok but this was overpriced and not very good. The bread and croissants were not fresh, the coffee instant, the cheese all in plastic supermarket mini packs. Was this really Paris? We had far better accommodation and breakfast at our other hotel (2 star central Hotel Montpensier) and it was less expensive. Big plus was just the nearness to the station (an easy walk).
