We stayed at the hotel for 5 days and we had a great time. All the Staff is very friendly and customer oriented. The Reception staff was also very cooperative. They were all multi-lingual and recommended us a lot of great tours in Paris. The hotel room was a superior room on the 4th floor. It was very modern, clean and comfortable. It also has a fitness center in the cellar which can be reserved privately. You can even watch TV while on the crossfit. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. It not only had the typical selection of eggs and...but also offered couscous salad, cooked veggies, smoked salmon, yoghurt and a fantastic coconut and also nut cake. There was also a wide variety of typical french pastries and nuts and fruits. The hotel was located in the center of Paris, near the Rue Saint-Germain which is a busy street with 2 Metro stations and lots of shops. A fantastic thing: In the Hotels street there is a bike lending station! All over Paris there are bike lending stations which allow you to get to know Paris or just to got to the supermarket or whatever. They are not expensive; only 1Euro per hour. We rented bikes and had a picnic in a park, it was a lot of fun. I recommend this hotel for everyone, wether you are in Paris for business and you need a central hotel with WIFI or you are visting Paris with your family and you want a hotel which serves pancakes and has a DVD Player. It was FANTASTIC!!!

We stood here 1 night for a special occasion and we really enjoyed it.
The staff is really very helpful and always ready to help us with taxis, restaurants or whatever we need.
The room that we stood is the room number 403, quite small but well disposed.
The breakfast is also very good with many choices.
And free tea time in the lobby is ready a plus.

Highly recommend this hotel !

Three girls in Paris. Late dinners, theatre, and needed to sleep past 7am.. No dice. The hotel shares a courtyard with a school... And open windows . So we woke up bright and early to the sound of what is normally lovely.. But not this time. Little children. Yelling, screaming..

We moved from another hotel that was the same cost and twice the size. Disappointing. We felt squished, uncomfortable with no where to hang clothes and happy to check out.

Also a majority of the time our keys did not work. We kept having to get new ones.

Location and staff were nice - but that was it.

Dear Rebecca,

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience at the Grand Hotel Saint Michel. Our team remembers the three of you perfectly and we hope that the daily recommendations from our concierge team were helpful in guiding you throughout your stay.

As we are placed very centrally in Paris, we do have a portion of the hotel that shares a courtyard with a local school next door. However, we had never had a complaint regarding these rooms until now and we regret not having been informed of your dissatisfaction while you were staying with us. We would have happily provided you all with a room that was located elsewhere in the hotel to guarantee your peace and quiet after a night out on the town! We have several different room types providing different experiences based on your needs and we are always receptive to any requests you might have while staying with us.

We place a great deal of importance on the satisfaction of our clients and would welcome you to contact us directly for your next stay in Paris so that we may provide you with a more positive experience and a gesture to compensate you for your inconvenience.

Warm regards,

Marie

This was our 2nd stay in France, first time at GHSM. We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon following a 7 hour flight. It was mid-July, very hot and humid. We turned on the air conditioner to 19 C, high fan for some relief from the heat. Only warm air. Notified the desk. We were told that it would be addressed by a push of a button downstairs. Next morning, still warm in the room. This was the scenario for 3 days. On the evening of the 3rd day, asked the clerk to come to the room to feel the temperature. We were sweating profusely and miserable-even after a cool shower. He went downstairs, did whatever needed to be done, and we had cool air for the following 3 days.
Another incident, we were solicited by the evening front desk clerk to arrange for a taxi to take us to the airport on our departure in 2 days. He told us that there would be a '20 euro deposit' to do this service. We did not take him up on his offer. Rather, the next evening we asked the female clerk to arrange for a taxi to take us to the airport early the next day. She did this without requesting a 'deposit'.
The linen issue---the housekeeper would not leave washrags. We had to repeatedly ask for these items at the front desk in the evening. The washrags are wrapped in plastic and looked like shoe shine cloths.
We had 3 adults in our room. The fold out chair bed was tilted to the right and very uncomfortable. We asked to be moved to another room. We were told by the prior mentioned evening clerk that there were no more rooms available.
The room was small. The picture on the ad showed a room with a reflection in a mirror that made the room appear larger than it was.
The total cost of this 6 day stay was 2400 euros--$3200. The location is adjacent to Sarbonne. There are several restaurants on the next avenue. A 5-10 minute walk to Notre Dame and 2 minute walk to Musee de Cluny.
I will not recommend this hotel to friends or family. I will definitely make arrangements at another hotel in the future.

Room Tip: lower room may be cooler if the staff doesn't turn on a/c

This is my 4th stay here out of about a dozen trips to Paris since 2003. I come at least once per year for business. I always bring a family member and enjoy Paris with them over a weekend. So why review this hotel again? 2 reasons. I read a few negative reviews that just aren't accurate and also because I use trip-advisor to find good info like I'm sure a lot of you do and I particularly look for the views of people who have been to an area a few times and know what's available. Since I'm fortunate enough to travel to Paris quite a bit, if I can do anything to help someone else make a choice I'm happy to do it. The st-Michele is an excellent Paris hotel. The rooms are the size of all hotels in Paris in this price range. The bathrooms have shower doors and they are adequate size for Paris in this range. These rooms are clean and exactly what I've come to expect for this price but I also think that they are a notch above the others in function and cleanliness. The staff is knowledgable and does call taxis. I feel bad someone had a bad experience but in 4 stays here, taxis showed up on time to take me to CDG Orly or Gare du Nord. They helped us Immensely on our arrival giving us access to our bags to get sweaters or umbrellas as we waited for our rooms. The location is ideal. Students from the nearby Sorbonne are on student budgets so there are nearby places to eat that aren't crazy money. I'd say the food prices are lower in restaurants in this area than closer to ND and the Ille de la cite. For first time visitors, this is a great place to stay because the location is close to many sites. Short walk down to the Ille de la cite around the corner from Luxembourg and the pantheon, 10 minutes to St Sulpice etc.

I think the most helpful thing I can say is that it's way better than other hotels on St Germaine and in the Latin Qtr in this price range. Before I figured out what I was doing, I've been disappointed a few times before with bad service, poorly functioning AC, bad internet, and showers that spray the whole room. You won't have that problem here.

Room Tip: Front rooms view the Sorbonne

Overall this hotel was a great find. If I am back in this part of Paris, we would stay again.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and fluent in English. We were able to get two of our three rooms before noon which is very unusual in Europe.

Nice shopping and restaurants within a few blocks and a block to L'Open hop on hop off bus line

The breakfast was average for 15 Euro each and the fact they replaced the coffee pods but left the dirty coffee cups and just moved the two glasses out of the sink to the shelf below I almost gave them a 3 star.

However the modern rooms, free Wi-Fi and overall cleanliness with great staff make it a solid 4.

I would recommend this hotel for sure.
