“An Excellent Parisian Hotel the Average Person Can Afford”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2012

This is a historic hotel in the Latin Quarter, within walking distance of a great number of the major sites in the city. The rooms are small (like in New York City) but more than adequate, and quite comfortable. The staff is most welcoming and helpful. The breakfast offered daily as part of the hotel price is: fresh baguettes, cheese, jams and butter, yogurt, fruit, juice, cereal, coffee and tea. The lobby contains a comfortable seating area with several sectional couches and computers with the Amercan and European keyboards. There are always striking fresh floral arrangements in the lobby. Everything was very neat and clean. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants, groceries and shops in the immediate area. The hotel is only a block away from the College of Paris. This must be one of the most reasonably priced hotels in the neighborhood, as there were several (courteous) American school groups staying there with us. I would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: The elevator is tiny, so if you have alot of luggage, ask for a lower floor and take the stairs.

we stayed at the hotel for 3 nights with a small child. There was no extra charge for the child, 3yrs. The hotel was clean and tidy. The rooms were cleaned everyday. We were given a big room with a big screen flat tv and small useful refrigerator. There were small rooms besides us. The bathroom had a bathtub, and the floors on the bathroom were always kept clean. The bathtub however was not cleaned on our 3night stay. There was wifi with weak signal, but there were 2 computers with good internet connection at the lobby. There was a bit noisy ourside because of the cars and roadwork. We did not purchase the breakfast, because i saw that there were alot of cafes and restaurant nearby. There was a cafe on the street across. The location is very good, we could walk to notre dame (4minutes walk). We also walked to the louvre museum. This took 20 minutes. The pantheon was also a good tourist spot, and was like one minute away. We took the taxi to eiffel tower and it costed about 18euro depending on the traffic. There is also a nearby metro station by the hotel. There is a shopping street near the hotel. And a cozy restaurant area nearby too. Area is safe. The staff were polite and helpful. The hotel interior could use a little renovation, like the doors or windows, new tableS and hairblowers should be put in. We were however satisfied with this hotel, and would charactize it as a 3 and half star hotel. The lobby was very nice. With a little renovation, this hotel could be a 4star hotel. We recommend this hotel to parents with small children as well.

located in the peaceful, yet lively Latin quarter, this hotel made you feel like you were family. Excellent in giving advice for restaurants, knowledgable about city events, transportation, etc. The front desk always went the extra mile and operated in excellence. For example, I booked a hotel through a wholesaler and recieved a voucher for a standard room, which is a double bed. However, I was traveling with my son and did not want to have to share a bed if possible and asked if that could be arranged. The staff said they had no available twin bed rooms, but they would give my son his own room until a room with two twin beds became available. You wont find this friendliness¨and willingness to work with the client everywhere. I have been a travel agent for 31 years and I highly recommend this place.

...very small rooms (even for Paris). Cleanliness was OK but not more than that. Staff was friendly but at night the reception was almost always unattented and the outer doors were open! Breakfast is what you would expect for Paris (i.e. bad) so save your money a buy some bread from some of the great bakers in the area. As other reviews stated, the walls are paper thin so you'd need som earplugs. All in all the hotel is overpriced compared to quality (others hotels in the same area are much better and even cheaper) so I would not recommend this hotel and are not going back.

I revisited this hotel after 30 years - a trip down memory lane. I remembered it being very convenient to the Notre Dame and the Seine. Anyway, for a modest hotel, I highly recommend it. It is clean and neat, with a pleasant lounge downstairs. The staff was helpful and friendly, and it was within walking distance to many good restaurants. I feel very comfortable there. There were 3 of us - my 17 year old daughter, and a friend, and though the room was rather small for 3 of us to share, it worked out fine.

Stayed for a week and a half with a 10-month old, and didn't want to leave. Location (Latin Quarter) is perfect; a block from the Panthéon, 2-5 minute walk to Metro, bus, and RER stations, 15-20 minute walks to Notre Dame, Louvre, and heaps of museums, dozens of brasseries. Price is acceptable for the area. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and multi-lingual. Baby cot was provided and was adequate. Room was small yet sufficient (that's Paris for you) and had a balcony overlooking the street. In-room fridge was perfect for storing baby food. Wireless internet throughout the hotel worked fine. Breakfast was simple but very well organised and satisfying (perfect croissants, baguettes, cereal, coffee/tea/chocolate/juice, yoghurt). Only downsides were the tiny elevator (which doesn't go to the basement for breakfast), a lack of high chairs at breakfast, and lack of in-room coffee/tea making facilities. For those really into decor this isn't the most modern-looking, and the old wall-moldings have been hastily painted over (I'm sure they looked perfect back in their day) but the linen was top-quality and updated, and the flat-screen TV was pleasantly anachronistic. Along with proximity to several small food shops, a few English pubs (including one that serves hand-pumped cask ales... in Paris!), and plenty of crepe stalls, food is easy to find. Being in the tourist district means that many of the local brasseries speak English, or at least are not upset if all you do is point at a menu (my wife speaks almost no French). Overall, a great hotel for what it is. If you want to stay in a luxury hotel, pay more money somewhere else. If you want to see Paris and have some money left to buy things, stay here!

Room Tip: There seemed to be a police station a few blocks away, so there were lots of sirens throughout the n...

I believe this hotel could be something special but it just needs an interior face lift. The carpets need to be replaced from the 60's. You can see that in their day they were exquisite, but 40 years later they need to be replaced. A little paint would go a long way, along with a few upgrades in beds and furniture. That being said the hotel grow on us as the trip went on. The location was great the employees were always eager to help and breakfast started the day of sightseeing perfectly. So try at your on risk it will grow on you, what can I say its Paris!
