“The place to stay in when in paris!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012 via mobile

Spent a night there 3 days ago, the location of this hotel is simply what u need. The rooms are clean eventhough they are not that spacious but comoared to paris these rooms are good. Free bar is really a nice initiative. Staff are friendly willing to help youat anytime. We checked out and left our luggage at the reception till late in the afternoon.
To sum it up, for the price you are paying and the I am definitely staying there when going back to Paris.

Enjoyed stay, modern comfortable rooms in a great boutique hotel, good location in a neighborhood with good food and good subway connections. The breakfast was very nice. BUT, the wifi was slow and buggy, can't count on it.

We arrived at Hotel Chaplain from Tours and our superior room was delightful for our last night in Paris, in fact our last night in France. The mid October weather was starting to turn against us so the Hotel was a warm and pleasant retreat before we left by taxi the next morning for Charles De Gaulle Airport. The hotel staff were most friendly and extremely helpful.
We had stayed for two weeks in an apartment in the same area on arrival in the first week of September, so it was very comforting that our last night was spent back in Paris somewhere we were familiar with. Our dinner at La Rotunde on the Boulevarde Montparnasse completed our trip beautifully.
We found this a very comfortable area to spend our first two weeks in September with the metro on the corner and Gare Montparnasse only a short walk away. Outside the door of our apartment was a merchant de vin and fromagerie, across the street boulangerie, mini-market, and a grocer, a short walk to a supermarket, at the next junction a street market and internet cafe nearby, and bistro on almost every corner. This was the France we came to explore and experience, however, after six weeks of travel we were ready to go home but also sad to leave.

Room Tip: Our Superior room was on the ground floor through the common room and a small courtyard and was a co...

This was the second time at Chaplain. Last time I gave it a note 4.
The downgrade was more related to the location (too quiet), the room itself (flooding shower), and the internet speed (if you are on a business trip).

Apart from that, I must say the hotel staff is GREAT! They will do everything they can to make you trip pleasant.

Just came back from 12 days in France and couldn't wait to write this review. This hotel is bang on the dot for the price. Perfectly located to experience a great area of Paris and close to metro and RER stations this place is great. Super friendly staff and cute common spaces we really loved our stay here. The room was clean if a little small but so what. We aren't moving in just staying a couple of days! Nice that the minibar was FREE.... nothing else in Paris is:) and refilled daily. The bed was very firm but better than being too soft. Stay here if you want a nice hotel in a great neighborhood for a reasonable price.

Decided to spend a weekend in Paris with our 11 month son. We choose the hotel on the web recommendation plus a last minute tifrom a friend rregarding the location.
We were very happy with every details of our stay there. The booking was easy and the hotel reception was very accomodating for adding a baby cot in the room. Our room (king room type) was large for Paris standards and (surprise) had a minuscule balcony - great place to have a glass of wine ithe evening. The whole place was super clean and all the equipment was working just fine. The hotel personel was very friendly, spoke English and when we asked for they organized a baby sitter for our son. The location is excellent - really at the core of the city. Luxembourg garden, milions of bars and restaurants are in direct reach. We would certainly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 51 has a balcony - great for evening sun. And a view on the Montparnasse tower.

We had a good stay, the room was clean and quiet. Very close to Vavin Metro Station, restaurants and shops. Free Wi-Fi, which worked fine during our stay, they also have a computer in the lobby that guests can use. The items in the Mini Bar were free and they have an iron available for you to use in the room, if you need to.

The staff was very nice, helpful and spoke very good English. You have to leave the room key at the front desk every time you leave the hotel, but there is always someone there when you return. They have a small elevator that fits only 2 people, but we never had to wait long for it.

For those sensitive to smells, they use some cleaner that has a strong lemon scent and you notice as soon as you exit the elevator. TV worked fine, all the channels are in French,so if you need to watch something in English bring a tablet or computer to do it online.
