“Birthday Weekend in Paris”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

Stayed in the club king room (Room 51, top floor) for 3 nights in July which was a decent size by Parisian standards.

Bathroom was clean and modern, there is an LCD TV all be it there were no English channels on it. The bed was massive and very comfortable, air con worked well and was quite, lots of room for bags and clothes, the balcony looked out onto the street with room to sit and have a few drinks which was lovely, there was also a safe and hair dryer provided with the mini bar topped up daily.

Location is good in a vibrant area. If you are getting the metro from CDG get off at Vavin Metro as the hotel is across from it. There are lots of bars (Shannons Pub) cafes and restaurants close by.

The Wi-fi is OK good enough to check your FB and information for tourist attractions.

Yes you can hear some noise outside with the windows open but when closed we didn't hear anything and had very good sleeps each night.

The breakfast buffet was very nice with a selection of pastries, bread, meat, cheese, yoghurt, cereal coffee and tea.

Staff were friendly and helpful, you have to leave your key at reception which is good as you don't have to worry about losing it.

The only negative point is the shower had obviously overflowed into the bedroom as when we arrived the carpet was wet. This made the room stink of sewage, the staff tried the first night to fix it with air freshener which didn't work. The next day we complained again and the cleaners must of cleaned the carpet so the smell went away.

Room Tip: Room 51 is on the top floor looking out onto the street. You couldn't hear any noise by maybe th...

The Chaplain is a very good 3 star hotel, modern and small, very well located in the quartier latin, with two metro stations and many brasseries nearby. The classic room is very small, but it's modern, clean, well decorated, the bed is great and very confortable. The bathroom is very nice, good shower and nice bathtube. The shampoo and shower gel were very good and replaced every day. they also provided water, coke and orange juice for free in the minibar. They have free wireless internet also (there was one day it didn't work) and the staff is ok. I certainly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The privilege suite is almost exactly like the Classic room, althought it is much bigger and have a...

Le Chaplain offers excellent value for money considering that the city in discussion is Paris, where with the exception of luxury (and pricey) hotels, everything is small. Great location, very close to two metro stations, in one of the city's residential areas, where locals clearly outnumber the tourists. Large choice of restaurants, brasseries and cafes in the nearby, with menus only in French (good sign if you want to avoid tourist traps). We had booked one superior room, located on the ground floor, in the small backyard. The room was adequate in size and well equipped, the bathroom was large and recently refurbished. The hotel provides free water bottles and soft drinks on a daily basis and the room has a mini-refrigerator. Also there is free wifi connection which worked fine. The room was very quiet, we didn't have any troubles sleeping until late in the morning. Staff was polite and helpful. All in all, is was the best stay in Paris after more than 10 visits.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

Stayed here a couple nights on a business trip in June 2012. Extremely cramped quarters, indifferent service even by Paris standards, and, worst of all for this trip, a terrible WiFi connection. Relatively inexpensive, but I would not chose to stay here again.

Nice hotel located in a very nice area of Paris. The rooms are kind of small but well designed and the bathroom is really nice. The street is a bit noisy sometime and you should try to avoid a room next to the elevator as you might hear it. Otherwise, this hotel has a lot of charm and I truly recommend it if you want to visit Paris…
