We chose this hotel because of the price and the fact that it seemed to be one of the few hotels that could accomodate a family of four. It was also recommended by Rick Steve's so that gave us a bit of confidence. We were placed on the 6th flr with one double bed, a twin alcove bed and a rollaway. I had requested a view and this room faced Ave. Tourville and it was actually a pretty view of the neighborhood. The room was very small and with the roll-away it was a very tight squeeze. The carpet was pretty dirty and the door would not close properly---it looked as though there was a slight gap between the floor and the door so my husband placed folded paper that filled the gap and kept the door from shaking everytime another door on the floor shut. It was pretty dark, particularly in November, but we were not in it too much. The staff was mostly helpful and friendly. When we asked for "American" pillows they did have them and gave us plates to eat in our room after a long day. They also held our luggage willingly since we arrived before check in and had planned a day trip out of the city, and for check out since our train did not go to Italy until 8pm day of departure--they also allowed us a little later check out which helped as I wasn't sure we could manage such a long day with children. The maid service was not very helpful, and although I speak enough french to communicate she said there was nothing she could do about broken hairdryer, and pretended not to understand me, although when we asked her to vacuum since it obviously had not been done, she did oblige. Oh well, had we stayed longer than 3 days it may have been a problem, but it really did not bother us. We loved the location, as evenings we were able to get out and walk, either to Le Eiffel or Hotel de Invalides (Napoleon's Tomb). It was about a 15 min. walk to RER C that took us to Versailles and a 5 min. walk to metro that takes one to Louvre and Notre Dame. Although our rm was pretty old it actually, along with the Hotel had alot of charm. We enjoyed the idea of a 100 yr old(?) building. Over all the price and LOCATION made this a good choice for us. The first few days we stayed at Comfort Hotel Davout Nation and our stay improved once we moved to Hotel Turenne simply because of the location.
