“Nice and cozy hotel by the canal St Martin”

Very nice little hotel by the canal St Martin and very friendly staff. In bathroom you find ear plugs, use them, and you have a good night sleep with a beautiful canal view. It's easy and nice to have a morning run by the canal banks.

Stayed one night. The hotel is nicely designed (though too IKEAish) but clearly very overhyped in Tripadvisor (number 12 in Paris?). Staff seemed from the beginning really uninterested and in any case, pretty amateur. Hotel is a main street so mind the noise.

Anyway, the only interest that the girl at the front counter had with me was when picking up my luggage (I had been outside for the day). She told me that apparently there was a "pillow" missing from my room and it was there the day before. When I told her if she was suggesting I had stolen a pillow (seriously???) she told me of course she was not implying that.

So do they think their guests are in the trade of stealing pillows from Parisian hotels??? (not to mention I had only hand luggage, so connect the dots).

You staff should learn some manners and common sense before trying to run a hotel.

OK, I made my last-minute booking of one night on Hotels Tonight, for about half the going rate of the hotel. I understand that this meant that breakfast was not included; I can also understand that the "free minibar" included exactly two bottles of (tap) water.

What I cannot understand is how anyone would want to stay in such an uncomfortable room. Of course it was small; but it was also poorly designed. It included a single tiny chair, no desk, no closet and nowhere to place one's luggage. You will live out of your suitcase, literally, and your suitcase will be placed on the floor because there's nowhere else to place it. The bed-side cabinet was big enough to place a cell phone or a book, but not both.

On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable (for one person; it's too narrow for two), the room was pretty clean and the street noise was not a major issue on the fifth floor.

I will not return.

We loved everything about this cheerful, immaculate, welcoming hotel. Wonderful, sunny location facing the charming canal scene-- we loved opening the beautiful French windows (with children's guards) and having fresh air in our room. Owner Sophia and/or her staff are on scene day or night to offer a complimentary glass of wine or cup of tea. The included breakfast was delicious and very French. The rooms are well cared for with luxurious sheets and towels. So nice to stay in a hotel with only 12 rooms, well-staffed to take care of guests. The neighborhood is so lively and Parisian, all the best shopping of St Sulpice, but quieter and fewer tourists. Looking out the dining room window on city life is worth the price of the room. The bakery Du Pain et Des Idees is just a few steps from the hotel, as are wonderful restaurants. It's a great walking location and the metro is close by too.

Room Tip: All the rooms look out onto the Canal, view southwest, so very sunny.

This hotel is tiny but right in the heart of Parisian Paris. Next to the canal teaming with life, a warm and friendly staff team and access to some superb restaurants within an easy walk.
The rooms were clean and bright, (make sure you book the larger ones, the small ones are rather cosy!)
Free minibar and a glass of wine on the house before you go out for the evening. Couldn't ask for a better experience.

I stayed here for a night with a friend, and I would say my stay was very pleasant. We arrived at the hotel at approximately 6pm.The front desk staff was very polite and helpful. Our room was small, but certainly big enough for us and our luggage.) The bathroom was a bit dated. Also the shower curtain was a bit tricky, and I ended up with a very wet floor the first time I got a shower. But it was clean, so it wasn't too bad.

The breakfast was nice...toast, crepes,a selection of jams and cheeses, cereals, fruit, coffee. It was certainly enough to start each day, and the breakfast area was modern and clean.

The wifi worked very well, and we had no problems staying connected .I was pleasantly surprised that there were some English speaking news channels.
The area around the hotel was just ok, we found it to be less desirable at night, so we usually just walked straight from the metro to the hotel. We did eat in one restaurant close by, and the food was good (albeit rather expensive).

Overall, our stay at this hotel was quite enjoyable.

I lived in Paris off an on for a dozen years. Since I sold my apartment there I have been staying at Le Citizen and would only stay somewhere else under protest.

The hotel is small (12 rooms), intimate, and very well run. The rooms are extraordinarily spacious, even the small ones, with big, wide, comfortable beds and brand-new bathrooms with large showers. The amenities are plentiful: robes, slippers, an included minibar and snacks refreshed every day, free wifi, and extraordinary breakfasts with pastries, fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee from espresso to cappuccino, cereal, and eggs any style. (This itself is a departure from the usual coffee and croissant breakfast offered most places).

The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Place de la République. It's offered me a new to neighborhood to explore. First of course is the canal right across the street (you can take barge trips down the canal for a reasonable price, particularly fun to do in summer). Watching the locks open and close when a boat goes through is diverting. A walk down the canal to the area where it is covered introduces a series of gardens.

It is also a ten minute walk to the Gare du Nord (easy RER train to Charles De Gaulle airport), five minutes to the Gare de l'Est, and two minutes to the Metro Jacques Bonsergeant on the 5 line.

There are several good restaurants within a minute's walk as well. The ones they recommend are excellent, though I have a couple of favorites they don't mention.

I have sent other people here with excellent reports.

Room Tip: All the rooms face the canal. Higher give a slightly better view, but all are good.
