“Modern and comfortable hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

As a family of four we stayed in the Zen Apartment, which certainly provided more space than any other hotel that we have previously visited in Paris. We had very comfortable beds and good showers. There was absolutely no street noise, at night, when we stayed there in January. If you like to be in the centre of all the popular Parisian tourist attractions then you might want to choose a hotel that is somewhat more central. We found getting around by taxi was not a problem. The staff were always polite and extremely helpful. They provided us with many lovely recommendations, particularly local restaurants and went out of their way to help us with our hire car problems.
I cannot say that the breakfast was fantastic but it was included in the price. We really
appreciated free WIFI, that allowed us to call Australian land lines for free. The hotel is definitely incredibly good value for Paris.

“Tres bien hotel in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Stayed at Le Citizen in October 2012 after arriving by Eurostar at Gare Du Nord - hotel very easy to get to from this train station, a couple of stops away on the metro followed by a less than 5 minute walk. Friendly welcome at reception where we were provided with the complimentary ipad for our stay and the room we had for the first night (a City L) was excellent - great space, lovely comfy bed, super bathroom and nice view across to the canal - being on a lower floor it could get quite noisy outside with traffic at certain times, but apart from that no complaints. The next day we transferred to a City room for the remainder of the stay due to having booked fairly late in the day, but that was a nice space as well, with lots of natural light, although somewhat smaller that the initial room. In both rooms there was a free mini bar which had some beer and fruit juice stocked every day and the in-the-price breakfast was very relaxed every day, as well as a good selection and tasty. The location of the hotel is fantastic, in a very bohemian area (i.e. trendy!) with plenty of good restaurants, bars and independently run shops nearby as well as good transport links. My partner and me would happily go back to this place next time we visit Paris - recommended.

Room Tip: Would recommend the City L rooms - good value and a nice space.

“Thought I had reviewed Le Citizen”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

but upon trying to book them again, found that they were full. Karma. So, here's the review: My 14 year old daughter and I stayed here for 2 or 3 nights last July and found the staff to be nice, helpful and courteous. We were on the tail end of a 2 week tour and were a little space, but they politely helped us with directions and advice whenever we asked, had cars on hand to take us to the station, etc.... Above reproach, really. They completely dispelled any of the "french are jerks" stuff we heard prior to visiting.

Right across the canal we found some sort of fashion outlet street and spend the day shopping for my daughter there - prices were very reasonable and the staff there were really nice as well. Lots of food nearby and we even chanced upon a farmers market less than a couple blocks from the hotel
(I do not recommend the all natural Ipad amplifier. While it works, it smells still of a smoked ham). :)

The rooms are small (duh, it's Paris), but artfully done and very trendy according to my 14 year old daughter. Some eclectic food and drinks are complementary.

My only complaint is that they don't have any rooms available in late July 2013!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Zin Min room, I think: it has large foam/cloth blocks that you can rearrange along...

“Great for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013 via mobile

We picked this hotel because it was ranked #5 at the time. It pretty much lived up to the reviews. Small but clean rooms with good linens, friendly staff, decent location. The breakfast was nice, with fresh squeezed orange juice and good lattes. You can even ask them to make you eggs, otherwise it's just breads, some fruit, you hurt and cheese. Their croissants were amazing, but I was VERY disappointed that on the last day an hour before breakfast was over they had ran out of them!! I know this sounds like a minor complaint, but I was really looking forward to going down stairs to get one in the morning, and to find they did not have any was disappointing. I mean its Paris and they run out of croissants?
I don't know their names, I wish I did, but one of the staff was much friendlier than the other one. The gentleman from Belgium was VERY helpful, while the other was your average hotel staff member... not really helpful when our phone didn't work, but as soon as the other gentleman came on shift, he had a new phone in my room immediately.
I will stay there again on our next visit.

“Wonderful, Wonderful Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

This hotel is a stunning boutique hotel. The staff are extremely kind and helpful. They organised our restaurant bookings each evening. We ate so well in non tourist place. Chez Marie Louise Restaurant is a must. We went twice! The Zen room is spacious, a perfect place to relax. I slept 10 hours one night, which is rare for me. Produce in the hotel has good providence and delicious. Just a stone's throw from Gare du Nord, the location is good for anyone who arrives on the Eurostar and wants to explore neighbourhoods.

Room Tip: Zen Room is the most expensive, but worth it.
