“Beautiful place to relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

Paris is a great city, but you may find that all the sightseeing and walking wears out your legs quicker than you think.
On our last few hours however, we took in the lovely Luxembourg Gardens which can be accessed free at several points. It's perhaps not as large as some reviewers seem to indicate, but it is a great size to wander around at your own pace and sit on the free chairs which are scattered around, either in the sun or the ample areas of shade.
The old Palace provides a stunning backdrop to children playing with toy boats on the small boating lake whilst a band played nearby under the trees.
If you are in the area and fancy a short time of reflection away from the busy streets, then take a stroll through here, you will enjoy it.

“beautiful gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

went on a sunday afternoon - beautiful gardens. a lot of people lolling around enjoying the sun. beautiful flowers and greenery (more impressive than versaille, except for the size) very nicely laid out. the pool was fun - lots of little children with sailboats. and a map of the world on the ground so that people could trace sites from world war one.

“Great for the kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

We spent an entire day here with the kids. The gardens are beautiful and free to enjoy, but almost everything in this park for the kids costs money, but it is still cheaper than any of the museums in Paris. Here are some of the activities we tried:

1. There is a large playground which you have to pay to enter (2.50 Euro per child, 1.20 Euro per adult but adults can wait outside if your kids are older ie. 5+). The playground has good climbers and slides, and the big attraction is a zipline like ride that does a little loop. Go early in the day for the zipline, as it gets lined-up in the afternoon.

2. You can rent a model sailboat for 3 Euro for 30 minutes and "sail" it around the pond. Watching other kids at first it seemed a little lame because you just direct the boat with a stick and give it a push (a remote control would seem more interesting), but the kids enjoyed their half hour, and you meet lots of other tourists when your boat collides with theirs.

3. Pony rides for 3.50 Euros last about 5 minutes.

4. There was also a puppet show (http://www.marionnettesduluxembourg.fr/acceuil.html) for 4.80 Euros that appears to run daily in the summer, but we did not go.

The park is also a busy place with an area for chess matches. There were also a few tables playing contract bridge. We also saw a boot camp and a tai chi class.

Very nice gardens. We were lucky enough to visit when the weather was good. Not too crowded on a Friday afternoon and definitely worth a visit.
