“excellent fun for the little ones”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

took my 3.5 yr old daughter to the 2-7 AND the 5-12 exhibits. (you pay 8 euros per section). We did not do any of the explora section, this is separate and extra, we thought it would be too advanced for her. What we chose as perfect. You get an assigned entry time and 1.5 hrs to "explore" at your pace. Time is plenty. She loved both, but did more on the younger kids area (2-7). The water play in this area was closed.

“Great museum but not enough time!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

The museum had a long line just to buy tickets. Once we purchased tickets we found that you are allotted a 90 minute window of time in the museum and you are directed to a specific area of the museum that corresponds to your children's age. We had a 90 minute wait before we could entere so we went to the geode for a movie. When we entered at our time we were directed to the age 5-10 area of the museum. Our kids age 5, 6 and 8 had a lot of fun, but we found the 90 minutes very limiting. We didn't even get through all of the activities. The kids gave it a thumbs and especially liked the water area and the butterflies!

“Good experience for kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

Very interesting and educational activities for children. The time is restricted, around 1hour and a half, but my kids had a great time there. If your kid is up to 5, you'd better choose the cité for 5-12 year-old than the one for 2-7 y.o., in my opinion.

“One just for the children.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2012

We took our near 4 year old to the 2-7 year old part of the Cite des Enfants for a well-deserved totally child oriented day in Paris.

She had a ball with multi-themed areas of interactive science play. Truely engaging activities and even the child within (my partner and myself) were fascinated and delighted at the prospect of what it would be like to be 3 again and let loose here.

Particularly fun was the mini maze, which was like a mouse run, and the water play area, which supplies water aprons to help reduce saturated children.

Only complaint is the queueing system prior to the timed entry. We were 'ushered' into a 'holding pen', shoulder to shoulder with other families awaiting entry. Screaming and crying kids, frustrated and impatient. It was stressful and irritating. The 'holding pen' had no activities or entertainment to amuse waiting children and this caused much tension. Bored kids picking on other kids, cranky parents, whinging and whining. Horrible.

A visit to the Cite des Enfants requires a booking with a timed session. I think from memory there may be 3 to 4 sessions per day. And the session last around 1hr 45 min hours. So while there is a lot to explore and play, there is not enough time to thoroughly utilise the whole presentation of themes and activities. It is a bit of a mad rush in, once we are allowed to enter, and chaotic rampage around play centres.

Our daughter loved it but as a parent I found the crowding and timing of the visit stressful. We even 'lost' our daughter in the mad rampage between sections. So keep a hold of your 2-7 year old. They can easily get carried away scuttling from one section to another. Like a child in a candy store.
