This was our first stop on arriving in Paris. We took the advice of another traveller and entered via the stairs near the small arch and underground shopping centre. No queues. The Louvre is open till late at night so started about 2pm. This was the end of November on a week day. It doesn't matter where you start as all galleries link in to each other. Allow at least 5 hours to gain a glimpse and 2 days to be thorough. It is huge! Favourites were the Napolean rooms, the medieval foundations, italian painters. Mona Lisa is much smaller than you think so don't have huge expectations. Loved the huge works by David.
