“Have a plan before going, but go!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

A must see. We went on Friday morning. This place is big, so make sure you have a game plan before going. A couple of tips to make your life easier:
1) Get Rick Steves book and download Rick Steves audio tour for this museum. Read his tips on how to get there, what entrance to use, and how to plan your visit. He saved us time, money, and the hassle/aggravation of waiting in lines.
2) A museum pass will allow you to bypass the line. We went right in, going by all the folks waiting in line. Don't wait in line with a museum pass!
3) Don't plan on seeing everything, unless you have a lot of energy and time. Prioritize what you would like to see. Get there early to avoid bigger crowds.
4) Expect crowds, and that most people will be congregating around the famous works like Mona Lisa & Venus d' Milo, etc.
5) Be patient and you will get an opportunity to get that picture.
6) Enjoy!

“Gorgeous Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

You can't really grasp the greatness that is the Louvre without spending something like a week exploring inside! The galleries are well layed out and easy to navigate. Also easy to get around. Have a plan when you go in, as we did, and you will be more efficient. The Mona Lisa is worth seeing just for the historical aspect. Overall a great visit.

“Be ready to queue for everything!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Got there and had to wait for 30 minutes to be able to enter the museum, then another 25 minutes to buy tickets followed by another 20 at the cloakroom to drop off our coats and umbrellas. Only to be told as we reached the top of the queue that we could only drop of our umbrellas but not coats as the cloakroom was full. Tried the other one at the other end, same thing. Finally we got to drop our coats one by one as policy forbids to place one coat over another even if one is a jacket! Also forgot to mention of the 4 cloakrooms only the two smaller ones were open = normal who wears a coat on cold and a rainy November day? Some goes for the lavatories and the exhibit.
This is not a museum but an endless queue!
Finally got to the new Islamic wing which when compared to other Islamic exhibitions (i.e. “The Art of Islam” Art Gallery NSW, Gulbenkian, V & A or Pergamon), visited was very poor in quality except for a couple of pieces, badly lit and totally messy organization. All in all a most unpleasant experience, doubt I’ll be returning.

“Pure art”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

It was so awsome to see all that art. Would have loved to have more time and see more. So next time i will take at least six to enjoy all the beauty you can see there.
