“Epcot Marquis de Sade”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Basically, it is a velvet-draped, gilt encrusted rococo bordello that smells like cinnamon and cigarettes and flickering candles. The girls in the basement grotto wear flipflops even when it's snowing. When you are there it feels ridiculous to get up before 2pm. My room was the size of an attic but it had a claw foot bathtub the size of the bed. As an American it is the perfect place to go if you want to spend every second inside being at once very, very pleased with yourself and very, very ashamed. Minus a star for having a typically French lack of humor about being, euh, end-of-the-world, balls-out ridiculous. Unless the 26 Euro drinks are, in fact, the joke.

Room Tip: Having a "good room" is very much not the point here.

Me and my friends went there for a coffee break in the afternoon, the hotel is fantastic, the environment is amazing, it´s not cheap but i truly recommend a quick stop and a visit to the entrance and the bar / restaurant!

this is Hotel Costes Bar Review: 25eur drinks not including tip. If I want to play nice American and tip that's about $40 a drink. Let's just say if I lived in Paris I would not really come here, but if I visit Paris once every 2-3yrs I wouldn't mind stopping by. The ambiance is very good, the care with the cocktails is great. The hotel generally is cozy and service very good. It's a good place to stop by before a night out with some friends. Good place for conversation esp in back room.

This hotel really is fantastic. It has the feel of a very good British boutique hotel but with a French class that put its it in a league of its own.
If you're looking for somewhere to impress/reward/make love to your partner, this is the place.
Great for celeb spotting, tripping distance from the Champs Élysées, Eiffel Tower, Place Concorde, and a bazaar of high end fashion boutiques.
The staff, mostly women, must all be models in their spare time and are dressed individually to their own taste - think secretary to Anna Wintour.
I had a 700euro room which was bijou shall we say for the price. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The first floor rooms have access to the balcony overlooking the neoclassical courtyard.
Anyone who can afford to stay at a hotel like this I'm sure wont quibble over the prices for food and drinks.
The staff were very accommodating and served us in the comfy sitting room at 3am. We had two plates of snails, five beers, and two glasses of wine which came to 180euros.
Wifi is free.
The courtyard dining room was bustling on a Sunday evening. Food is excellent.

Room Tip: Most first floor rooms have access to a balcony overlooking the courtyard

I've been staying here for years.
It's not cheap.
There are other options in Paris.
But somehow Monsieur Costes (who can occasionally be found in the lobby and is very affable) and his team of genetically perfect staff still come up trumps.
I hesitate to write much about it as I don't want to increase competition for the rooms, but this place has been so successful for so long that what I write probably won't influence you either way. You either want to spend €600-plus to stay in a dark, mysterious, undersized room in a hotel staffed by models where a pretty miniscule king crab and lettuce starter costs €42, or you don't.
Personally, I wouldn't go for that description, but - like my other fave the Soho House group – Costes just Gets It Right. Again and again. They do what they do superlatively and sometimes (often in fact) what they do is what I want.
There's an astounding florist next door (which they own). Their scented candles are delicious and their CD series is sui generis. I think they (and S. Pompagnac) started the whole hotel CD thing. The restaurant/terrace is great. Try the crying tiger beef dish. The moelleux is one of the best I've had. People sneer at the restaurant as it's as remarkable for the bone structures of the staff as the recipes of the dishes, but it's still a destination. And they get the lighting right throughout.
The gym is surprisingly good. The swimming pool is beautiful. The lobby just makes you want to lounge (lizard-style) an hour or two away. The wifi is free and open (always a classy sign). No fussing with those stupid little wifi code tickets you get in places like Radisson. And no €20 surcharge for an amenity most of us find more important than having a sink in the room.
I'm digressing.
I love this place.
I don't think it's cheap.
I don't think it's for everyone.
I don't stay here every single time I'm in Paris.
But it's unique.
You should try it.

Room Tip: I think the red (rather than beige) rooms are more of the essence.

This used to be the place to be seen in Paris. The bar is uber cool and full of beautiful people with uber egos and chequebooks to match. Tres chic but tres expensive. Still cool? No idea.....which means this wasn't really the place for me!
