“Nice grave yard. It's huge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

Huge graveyard. A visit often take more time that you wished. Follow the people and you'll end up at Jim Morrissons grave. It can happen from time to time (but not always) that you find people crying next to the grave or people dressed up in clothes that stand out. Edith Piaff is also a very visited grave. Some parts of the graveyard is beutifully green while others are very grey. Can be boring to visit this place in the rain, since it's big and outdoors.

“Beautiful Cemetary in the Pouring Rain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013 via mobile

I normally don't like cemeteries, or visit them. But since this one is so famous it was a must visit. The overcast day & then the pouring rain seemed apropos.

“Pere Lachaise Walking Tours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

Led by Tyler, our guide, from Viator Tours. Excellent summary of history of the cemetery and a wonderful balance of both expected celebrities eg Oscar Wilde and perhaps lesser known, extremely interesting residents. A beautifully organised afternoon on a bitter winter's day. Removed all of the stress of negotiating this vast city alone.

There is nothing one can dislike about the place. Serenity and beauty enhanced by some genuine pieces of "art funéraire"!!

“A truly special dark-tourism attraction”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

I would name this place a dark-tourism hot spot, but one of the brightest actually. It is the only place where you can get as close as ever to Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Edith Piaf and all the other 300+ important personalities of the world. Not many tourists were there when we went, and the place fully has the sober respect of a cemetery. If you want to visit something totally different, I strongly recommend you to give it a try. It is also a good place for meditation. You can buy a map for 2 euro's at the entrace or postcards.
