For 16 EUR this was good value. Luckily the weather was OK but it was comfortable both inside and out. Since the boat was not full that day we could move about and change seats. There was an interesting commentary in French and English delivered by a lady remarkable for her versatility. She also served as deck officer for embarking and disembarking, cashier and ticket controller and barmaid – amazing!
The tour was two and a half hours, not without longueurs towards the end as we passed from one lock to the next, but in general just pleasantly relaxing after much walking around town. As others have remarked, the scenery is not all beautiful but there was plenty worth looking at, for instance the Hotel du Nord, location of the famous pre-war film, the long tunnel at the end of the cruise and of course the locks themselves. We didn't know this area well before so it was something different for us.
There was a photographer on board but she didn't push people to buy her pictures. Nor was there any pressure to buy drinks, which were in any case reasonably-priced.
