“Great chocolate shop, amazing quality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

I haven't seen the museum itself, but visited the chocolate shop attached to it. The smell of heavenly chocolate alone is worth the visit (and the high price). The caramel butter jar is definitely a winner! :)

“Sweet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

This place has all you need to know about the origins of chocolate and you can finish off with a lovely drink at the end. Also plenty of chocolate to buy.

“Nothing great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

POSITIVES
- The history of chocolate and chocolate making is well laid out and makes an interesting read
- The video is an interesting watch
- Children enjoyed the activity trail
- The quality of chocolates we tasted was very good.

NEGATIVES
- The price is very steep at 9 Euros, especially for the amount that is presented inside (the vast Versailles Palace is 14 Euros).
- The demonstration was too short and too fast. The demonstrator spoke a lot in French and very little in English, even though all the 10 people in our group had loudly responded to 'English'. But the worst part was that the little English he spoke was so fast and intermingled with French, that I was pricking my ears to catch when the english began and then trying to piece it together to understand what he was saying, while at the same time trying to observe what he was demonstrating. The whole demonstration took around 5 minutes and definitely wasn't worth the half an hour we waited for it.
- There is no actual chocolate production to see, just chocolate being poured into moulds and set.

Overall, there's nothing great about the museum itself, there are much better ones elsewhere, but the quality of the chocolates available at their shop is very good.

“Nom nom nom”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

The museum shows the interesting history of chocolate and chocolate accessories (hot chocolate pots, Marie Antoinette's special cocoa cups, etc.). There's a seek & find hunt for the kids to work on throughout their visit (culminating in a chocolate pop at the end of the visit), as well as free samples at the front desk. There's also a great demonstration by an expert chocolatier (he's bilingual and very inclusive of English speakers), as well as displayed chocolate sculptures. During and at the end of the demo, you of course get to sample many things. Then of course you exit through the gift shop :)

“Good fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We were told about how chocolate is made and it was fun. We also got samples of chocolate and went around the shop. Not a great deal done, but a good short entertainment.
