“good average mid range french restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

The menu had a range of items.... escargot, ceviche scallops, cod, seared scallops. Prix fixe (38 euro or a la carte) nice setting, but one could hear all the kitchen electrical appliances noise.....food was average, price was average. Service was good , although we had to wait for our white wine to chill...well into the starters before we could enjoy. Generally a well priced restaurant. not outstanding. Excellent understanding of the english language

“Wonderful "Cave" Bistro in Paris”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

The Concierge at the Park Hyatt recommended Vin Chai Moi as a medium priced Bistro with Excellent food and a Terrific wine list. He was correct. Food and service were impeccable, and the wine selection was very much to our taste. Don't be put off by the fact that the restaurant is on the 2nd floor, such that when you walk in, you don't see any patrons. All you see are cases of wine and such. Strongly recommend ! Would return in a heartbeat. The owners, Luc and his wife Delphine, are most gracious hosts.

“Tiny/cozy wine shop/bistro. Decent food and supposedly outstanding wine list....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

It was our first night in Paris in late April. With no dinner reservation and wanting only a casual/reasonably-priced meal (in the 1st/2nd arrondissement, no less) nearby, Vin Chai Moi was recommended to us by the hotel concierge.

As some have mentioned in previous posts, the ground floor of the place is pretty much a wine shop, while the small dining space is on the second floor (or, first, as they call it in Europe). We sat by a small window, close to the bar. It's quite lively (good crowd for the space at 9:30pm) and somewhat romantic (dim street light coming in from the windows), too.

Opted for the 3-course prix fixe at $35euro/person. Food was delicately prepared/presented and tasted pretty good in general. Not wine connoisseurs here, so really can't comment on the wine list. Wife did love a red from Irancy she had, though.

It might be a bit understaffed the night we were there. Our waitress, while friendly and eager to help, seemed a bit overwhelmed, and the overall pace of the meal was a bit uneven. But, it's not really a big issue.

While I'd not necessarily make a detour for Vin Chai Moi, it's a pretty good value for the money, considering the caliber of food and its high-end location. The added bonus: oenophiles just might be pleasantly surprised by its supposedly excellent wine selections....

“First night in Paris off to a great start”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

We decided to go to this restaurant on the recommendation of our concierge and we are so glad we did! Bar none, this place had the best champagne I have ever had...The owner makes his own and I would make this my regular, were it available. The cheese plate and fish were scrumptious and tender.

“Convivial Bistro Run by Husband and Wife”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012

Located just a few short blocks from the Tuileries, Vin Chai Moi is a charming little restaurant owned and run by a married couple, Luc and Delphine. Delphine’s family owns a winery, and their wines are featured at the restaurant. The dining room is on the second floor. Serves traditional French food, which is well prepared, nicely presented, and delicious. We went there for dinner. I enjoyed excellent foie gras as an appetizer, balsamic glazed duck for my entrée, and an absolutely divine white chocolate and pistachio tiramisu. (And , usually, I don’t even like dessert!) Their menu and desserts change from time to time. Reservations needed as this place fills up during the dinner hour.
