“Solid base for sightseeing, Pretty decor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

Stayed here for 4 nights with husband for sightseeing.

Pros:
-Pretty violet and silver color scheme. I especially liked the one wall of wallpaper in the room and the slim silver textured lamp on the desk in the room.
-Breakfast is solid- cheeses, hams, pastries (I ate 2 pain au chocolate this morning, and that was a bit too much, but it was so delicious), jams made for the hotel, cut multigrain baguette (with poppy seeds, I think), boiled eggs (they are offered raw, and you boil them in a nifty little metal device, so their fresh for you), cut mixed fruit (apple, orange, pineapple, melon), and if you'd like fried or scrabled eggs, ask the woman who works the breakfast area for eggs. The breakfast area is small and in the basement- a friendly space painted white, with about 6 tables. Nothing overwhelming.
-Front desk staff smiles, responds quickly to questions. Nearly every morning and night, I wanted to know the best metro route to get from point A to B, and the front desk staff was very helpful and patient, and gave me good directions. For example, one morning I wanted to know how to best reach the Musee D'Orsay. The woman at the front desk suggest a metro ride to the stop Invalides, and then a leisurly stroll to the museum, since the weather was spectacular. We followed her suggestion, and as a result, had a fantastic walk.
-Before arriving, I called the hotel asking the best way to get from CDG airport to the hotel, and the person I spoke with recommended the Roissy Bus, which was excellent. When you arrive at CDG airport, look for the Roissy Bus. Ask at the information desk for the nearest Roissy Bus ticket machine and stop. There is a Roissy Bus stop in each terminal. It is easy to buy tickets from the machine- 10 euros per person. Take your ticket, go to the Roissy bus stop, and the Roissy bus comes every 15 minutes. It goes directly from CDG airport to the Opera area- no other stops. Then, walk about 10-15 minutes (arrive on Rue Scribe and walk down, left on the busy Boulevard des Italiens, Right on Rue Gramont, walk a bit and the hotel will be on your left). When we departed, we walked back to Rue Scribe, bought the ticket (again, 10 euros/person) from a Roissy Bus representative on Rue Scribe, got on the bus, waited 3 minutes, and rode back via Roissy Bus to CDG airport. No need to make reservations-just stand at the bus stop, and the bus comes every 15 minutes. Very easy, and a very good price.
-At the bar near the front desk, there are complimentary croissants and sparkling water. This is a nice touch and practical after coming back from a long stroll with a parched throat.
-Bed was comfortable. Sheets and pillowcases were clean and smooth.
-Clean bathroom, for the most part. There was a tiny bit of mold in the shower stall, but other than that, the bathroom was in clean condition.
- Two metro stops are close by and will get you to all the major attractions: Opera (5 minute walk) and Richelieu Drouot (3 minute walk). The metro ticket is 1,70 euro/person (we bought a pack of 10 metro tickets for 13,3 Euros) and you can take the metro to: Champs Elysees, Cite (Notre Dame), Champ de Mars/Tour Eiffel (Eiffel Tower), Palais Royal/Musee du Louvre (Louvre Museum) among many others. The metro runs many trains- we never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a train- and it's easy to buy tickets.
-If you're at the Tour Eiffel (Eiffel Tower) and are tired and just want to take a cab back to the hotel, it will cost about 10 euros.
-Pretty windows that open up in a French door style (I don't know the name of this type of window/door). We were able to stick our heads out of the windows and look up and down Rue Gramont.

Cons:
-We were here for our wedding anniversary. I let the hotel know, when reserving the room, that we were staying for our wedding anniversary, but nothing special was done, and our anniversary was never acknowledged. There was nothing especially romantic about the hotel. So, it's not a mark against the hotel; it just could have made our good stay become an excellent stay.
-A little bit of noise outside of our hotel, and nothing special to see out of the window. The view didn't inspire me to write poetry. Our window looked out into office space of the opposite building.
-If you are doing your private business inside of the bathroom, the person in the room will definitely be able to hear
-The soap given as part of the toiletries is from Italy. It was nice, but why wouldn't the hotel offer a soap made in France? The lotions are made in France, after all.
-The curtains in the room, at night, let in a bit of light. I couldn't quite pull them together all the way in the middle, so a little bit of street light trickled in. I used two hair claws to clamp the curtain together, and that took care of the problem.

We paid 209 euros/night and this included breakfast. No other taxes or fees.
I would recommend this hotel. I agree with what another reviewer wrote: If you are coming to Paris planning to be outside of the hotel a lot, stay here. If you plan on staying in your hotel a lot, you may want to look elsewhere. If I visit Paris again, I'd be curious to see what other hotels are like, but if I stayed at Hotel Gramont Opera again, I'd be content, knowing that it would be a pleasant, solid stay.

This may sound a bit over the top but I can honestly say this was the best city hotel I've stayed in at the price we paid for it. the staff could not have been nicer (pretty blonde girl especially) the room was spotless and very comfortable. It was a big room and the bathroom was perfect, I really could not find a fault with it also the Internet was free and very fast. Great location in a lovely neighbourhood, short walk to everything. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relatively cheap but nice place in Paris. Thanks again.

Our room was large and comfy, but lacking any interesting view out of the window. Next time we would consider the top floor. The front desk staff is excellent, they were all exceptionally helpful and spoke good English. We were especially thankful for assistance in making reservations in trendy restaurants. The breakfast was simply great (just notice how many pictures of the breakfast room were placed on TripAdvisor, very cute place). The location is central, near the Opera and Galeries Lafayette, about 20 minutes of walking to Notre Dame. The Metro stations are minutes away. The parking is absent, we had to make our own accommodations nearby.

Very positive feedback regarding the hotel. Excellent location, very friendly personnel and reasonable price for all that. Close to the hotel you have Opera, restaurants and even Monoprix store in case you need something else. 10 min walk to La Fayette and 15 min walk to Louvre. We will definitely come back to this hotel during our next trip to Paris.

stayed here for 4 nights earlier in July. Excellent hotel. Staff very friendly and they booked transfer from Airport (Charles De gaulle) to hotel for 40 Euros which is cheaper than a cab. Room well decorated clean mini bar whose prices weren't completely ridiculous. Great location. Air con worked well as did wi-fi.
Warning the room is very small. Am led to believe this is the case for all Paris Hotels. I also stayed 2 nights at the Hotel Baltimore Paris. That room was much bigger but also the tariff was almost twice as expensive. The only other down side to Hotel gramont was water pressure in the shower was so-so but still acceptable. If you are planning of spending a lot of time in your hotel room than this place probably isn't ideal. If you are going to be out sight seeing all day then I would definitely recommend. Value for money wise I think it would be hard to beat

This hotel is fantastic. We had a quad room that was perfect for my family of four.

Pluses:
Fantastic staff - friendly and fluent in English. Extremely helpful and very professional. They were incredibly helpful with any questions we had.
Very clean rooms. Quads had a double pull out sofa that the kids said was very comfortable. Our 2 twins combined beds were extremely comfortable too
Very clean bathrooms (2 bathrooms for a quad).
Air conditioning that works perfectly
Very quiet
90 second walk to Richelieu/Drouot Metro stop. 2 minutes from Quatre Septembre Metro
Walking distance to the Opera House, the Louvre and several excellent restaurants

Minuses:
None. And I never say none.

When I go back to Paris, I will definitely stay here again. I cannot express how much I loved this hotel. If I could give it 6 dots, I would.

This is a lovely little hotel near the Opera. The staff was wonderful but beware the room is very small. I just don't think the size of the room justified it being listed as one of the 10 or 20 best hotels in Paris. It makes me wonder about the rankings of the other hotels here.

First of all, we want to thank for the time you took to write this message.
Thank you for your kind words about our staff ! We are sorry that you were disappointed with our room size but we were one of the first hotels in Paris which has the new norms and all our rooms have the size which a 3 star hotel in France needs to have.
We wish you spending many nice moments for your future trips to Paris.
