“Big disaster! We didn't get our rooms and lost our luggage”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013 via mobile

Just like previous bad reviews, we also did not get our rooms when we arrived at the hotel late at night, after a tired journey from istanbul. We have booked 2 rooms from ibis website and had received the confirmation e mail for our rooms.when we arrived at the hotel, They just told us that the rooms have some technical issues and asked us to move to ibis gare de L'Est, that are furtheraway, 10mins by taxi. While, we were trying to get an explaination from the reception, somebody stole our big 28kg luggage inside the reception area. We were exhausted, tired, and felt so dissapointed. It was such a bad day to start our holiday in paris.

Also we took l'initiative to reserve for you in an other hotel Ibis this to guarantee you a hotel for your stay in Paris.
Unfortunately we cannot control the computer concerns which are very rare.

I had confidently booked a room in Ibis for a 4-night stay in Paris. Ibis Lafayette is supposedly part of the most upscale Ibis offering which had supposedly been recently renewed.
However, contrarily to my experience with Ibis chain, Ibis Lafayette turned out to be below Ibis's standards. Rooms were tiny, bathroom and shower even more. Carpet while supposedly recent was simply disgusting and overall conditions in corridors and stairs simply made you want to run away. Service at desk in evening is amazingly inefficient, while the waiter at breakfast was spoiling rest of the day with his stupid remarks and interference.
overall conclusion, avoid Ibis while in Paris

Unfortunately we didn't get to stay in the IBIS. We booked a family room for 4 people (two adults, two children aged 6 and 8). We deliberately booked a family room so that we could stay in a separate area from the children (shown in pictures) and stay up for a bit after they had gone to bed. We paid extra for the privilege.
Upon arrival we were told there was a problem with the family room. Apparently the previous guest had left the shower running and the floor was flooded and we could not stay. They told us they had no spare family or other rooms so had booked us a family room at the Mercure next door. They said they had rung all round Paris and there were no other family rooms available in the entire city. We discovered that the Mercure and IBIS are sister hotels so doubt this was the case.
My husband asked to see the flooded room but was refused entry because the hotel staff said they did not have the key! Very much doubt they were telling us the truth, they had probably overbooked and put us next door. Seeing a couple of recent reviews on here this is not an isolated experience. Anyway we were tired and didn't know where else to go so headed next door to see the room at the Mercure.....
Not happy at all! Our "family room" at the Mercure was simply a double room with two single beds crammed in. There was hardly any room to move and it was so tight our daughters bed was half under a metal desk. A third of her pillow was obstructed by a metal ledge and was simply not safe for her to sleep in. As soon as she turned over in bed she would have banged her head in the night. Very unsafe. We were absolutely disgusted that we had paid extra for a family room and they expected us to be happy with a cramped unsafe room that was not what we paid for.
My husband went downstairs to complain and was given €20 refund. However, after returning to the room he went and got the manager to complain about the dangerous desk overhanging my daughters bed. In the end we removed the bed bases so we could change the configuration and my children ended up sleeping on mattresses on the floor.
After further complaining we were given another €20 refund so we ended up paying the same price as an ordinary double room.
Still not ideal and not enough of a refund for our inconvenience. We definitely won't be going back and this sullied our trip to Paris.

We booked this hotel months before our trip to Paris. We arrived and were tired and jet lagged and just wanted to check in. When we got there, they said they were having "technical issues" and had to put us up in another hotel which was right next door. We couldn't speak French well enough to argue so we ended up in the other hotel. Our room there was beyond cramped and did not have the bed configuration we had booked but we were still charged the same price. The new room had a double bed and a double bed mattress on a frame on the floor. When the bed was pulled out from under a table so it could be used, you could barely walk in the room. I would NOT recommend this hotel unless you can speak French well and can stick up for yourself or you just really enjoy being ripped off. The only good thing was its location. Close to a metro station.

Room Tip: The best room would be one at another hotel.
