“Pretty little gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2012

Le Petit Belloy really is a pretty little gem in the middle of the Quartier Latin, and during my stay I couldn't wish for more. It's great value for money: by far the cheapest I found in its range in that location, has lovely refurbished rooms in a typical Parisian building.

People who complain about the limited space obviously don't know it's very common in Paris. Yes the room was small but who cares? You are sleeping in a beautiful ancient building, with possibly a lot of history, in one of the most amazing cities in the world. Frankly, I would understand complaining about cleanliness or bad service, but why space? It's not like you are going to host a party in your room or train for the Olympics, so please get out and enjoy your holiday!

As per the service, it could do with some improvement. The staff wasn't particularly friendly but again, I didn't bothered that much. I was on holiday and they welcomed us with a complimentary glass of champagne. As good as it gets!

We booked 2 nights at the Petit Belloy online for location and price and were pleasantly surprised. Just a few blocks from Notre Dame in the Latin Quarter, it was close to metro stops and walking distance to the Louvre. Many restaurants and night life in the district.
The room was very small, but clean and comfortable. We also had a balcony where we could see Notre Dame as well as the Eiffel Tower. There are virtually no amenities or even a lobby, but breakfast was provided across the street at a sister hotel and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: The sixth floor rooms are even smaller than the others, but the fifth floor was better and still pro...

The petit belloy definitely stays true to its name--the rooms as often the case in Paris, are very small and there is no lobby to speak of. That said, it had the best European shower we have ever encountered...A stall shower with a real shower head that provided amazing pressure.  Also a very comfortable, thick bed/mattress. A free, simple buffet breakfast was provided at the partnering hotel across the street. The staff provided friendly and accommodating service. You can't beat the price in such a great neighborhood. The hotel is in the heart of the 6th, with great access to the Metro and RER (to/from airport.) We highly recommend it!

We wanted an affordable, quiet and well located place to stay in St. Germain and Le Petit Belloy fit the bill based on my research. We went to Paris knowing that hotel rooms are extremely small there and Le Petit Belloy meets this expectation, however for a short stay (we were there for 4 days, 3 nights) the size of the room was fine since we were hardly there and when we were, we were either sleeping or watching TV while in bed. There was a luggage rack for our suitcase and a small closet with shelves. The room we had (61) was updated and cozy with a great view of Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower and the bed was very comfortable. Coffee was provided in the room and the free WiFi was a big plus. As other reviewers mentioned, there is no lobby, vending or ice machines, etc. and the front desk is one person in a small room. Luckily no one stayed in our room the night before so we were able to check in early, but otherwise it sounds as though it is not allowed, but they will watch your luggage for you and told me they do have a bathroom for people in this situation to use. The location of the hotel is a 3 minute walk to the RER which is excellent for going to/from Charles de Gaulle airport and is in a good location for exploring the left bank. Monoprix (kind of like Target) is a 1 minute walk away and a good place to get food, water, tylenol, etc. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, well located, comfortable place to stay and don't mind a place with no frills, I would highly recommend Le Petit Belloy.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 6th floor are quieter and have great views.

This isn't a luxury hotel, by any means. There are not many amenities however, you are in Paris! We were only in our room to sleep so the small size didn't matter much to us. There was plenty of room to store our luggage & keep things out of the way.

However, we found the rooms to be clean & nicely decorated, we had a nice large window that fully opened with a slight view of Notre Dame to the right.

This was in a great location in the Latin Quarter, super close to the Metro/RER stations which got us everywhere we needed to go. Lots of little cafe's around.

The free breakfast across the street at the Best Western was a nice touch so you didn't have to pay for it. It wasn't like a great patisserie, however, it was enough just to get you going in the morning. They also offered afternoon tea so for a quick snack, totally fine.

The staff was friendly & attentive. The accommodated an extra night at the last minute due to a flight issue & that was appreciated.

Overall, we felt it was a nice value. There are certainly cheaper, but you get what you pay for in being more run down, a bit more out of the way. This hotel seemed recently renovated/decorated.

We would definitely recommend. But it's all in what you are looking for.

We stayed for 4 nights late Sept'2011. Arrived from the airport at 2 PM...was asked to wait for 1 hour...left bags & went for lunch & came back,,room was still not ready at 4 PM !! Front-desk clerk requested me to inform his super, because he said this is routine...happens everyday & unless I complain, it will not improve. Finally, we went up with bags (elevator is tiny, I mean, really tiny...if you are regular American-size, forget it!), stood in front of the room while the maids were cleaning it...and checked in at 530 PM !!

There is no lobby in this hotel, breakfast is served across the street in another hotel.

I really did not have any other problems...overall, not a bad experience. WiFi is good.

Oh yes, 1 other thing: .If you want a cab, do not rely on the front-desk. FYI.

This review will be similar to others who found the hotel to be in a great location and it would be a great hotel...if only the facilities and amenities could be expanded a bit, but unfortunately the property size probably won't allow that to happen. My wife and I returned from Paris a week ago and had spent 4 nites at Le Petit Belloy which was our final stop in Europe. Our room (standard, double) was very small, not unlike many or most hotel rooms in this price range in Europe, but we were comfortable with the accomodations. We were in Europe for 3 weeks in several countries and hotels and our bed at Le Petit Belloy was the most comfortable of all. Don't expect much English TV while you are there (only BBC and CNN's world channel which provided very little news), but it wasn't needed much. We were on the 5th floor (I think there are 19 rooms in the hotel) and it was very quiet. Don't be shocked at the lobby and check in area because they barely exist. The check-in personnel (1 person) works in a room a little larger than a phone booth...literally...at the end of a short hallway that you enter off the street. And the elevator is something to behold, as in extremely small, laughable small. With this said, both the reception area and the elevator should not impact the quality of your stay at the hotel. And I mentioned these facts not to be negative, but so you will not be surprised if you elect to stay here. Breakfast was very good, which is served directly across the street at the Best Western (joint ownership I think). There is also a tea time/glass of champagne/hors d'oeuvres gathering at the Best Western from around 5:30 to 9:30?? each evening which is also very nice (no charge). And for those who need to access a computer, the Best Western has a computer set up that guests of either hotel can use at no cost and it is most often available. If you are traveling in from CDG, I would not take a cab but rather take the train (RER B-3 line) and get off at the Luxemburg exit, about a 40 minute ride, and it is less than a 10 minute downhill walk to the hotel, with luggage (9.10 Euro fare). When you exit the train tunnel after you arrive, go south on St. Michel toward the Seine River/Notre Dame, which is think is left. Can't recall if there may be an exit from the train tunnel on the other side of the St. Michel which would mean you would go right (you may want just ask someone to be safe).

I cannot say enough about the area that the hotel is located...it is THE BEST and right in the thick of the Latin Quarter without the street noise. The hotel is on rue Racine, a lightly traveled side street, just off the intersection of St. Michel, which is ground zero for Latin Quarter. You are walking distance from Notre Dame, the Seine River, Luxemburg Gardens/Park, and many other fabulous Paris attractions plus more restaurants and bars than you can possibly visit. When we return to Paris, and we will, we plan to again stay in the Latin Quarter and at Le Petit Belloy.

Happy traveling...
