“Trendy but you've gotta love it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

This hotel is very trendy, with design by Philip Starck. Not all people will appreciate the dark hallways, floors and ceilings, with the Darth Vader masks on the wall of your room, but hey, now for something completely different this time! :-) The rooms were nice and spacious, but dark. The shower is also spacious but the trendy design does not make it very practical. Positive is the staff at the reception: very friendly and helpfull. The breakfast buffet had lots of choice, and most important, the coffee was good. The restaurant of the hotel is also quite popular. We tried to get an reservation but already fully booked. The restaurant has a part where you can sit and get a good pizza without having to reserve a table. In all we had a good stay but some more light and brightness would have made it more comfortable. But if you want a normal hotel, you should not go here after all.

Really appreciated our time here, the designer blows me away. Great place for couples, awesome service, buzzing atmosphere, great drinks and food. Don't forget to take pictures in your room to send round the hotel... It's pure different, right up my street!

No, not quite. Reception with friendly staff, check. Interesting, quirky souvenir shop in lobby, check. Very nice restaurant with good food and atmo, absolutely. Service in restaurant during day shift, top notch. Parisian grumpiness during night shift, count on it. Rooms? Dark, rather small with a dodgy carpet and tiny bathroom. Bring your own toiletries and stay away from rooms facing the street. All in all, well, never felt the love from Mama!

Room Tip: Opt for the rear, away from street.

Just spent 3 nights at the hotel and was really impressed with the decor, funky feel to the place and lovely staff. Downside are the very small room we had although booked deluxe and really, the appalling margarita they serve.
Food was good, breakfast excellent, atmosphere awesome ...and we will go there again but not for margaritas ! Shame

The Mama really is a hipster hotel. Still I enjoyed staying there very much - and I'm anything but a hipster.
The rooms are rather dark but it's all part of the design - and it works!
Try to get a room further back from the street. It can be a bit noisy at night. There is a night club accross the road.
We had pizza in the hotel restaurant one night and it was very good.
Apparently the restaurant's the place to be for a Sunday brunch feast. The place was packed!
There is a bus station just outside the hotel and since the next Métro station is about 15mins walk away this is a good alternative.
Even better though: there is a Vélib (bike hire station) accross the road.
Cycling in Paris is good fun. Try it!

If you want to find a very good hotel in Paris, that's the place to be!
Very nice restaurant, wonderful breakfast with all the best french food that you can expect.
My place when I go to Paris, like home.
The rooms are relaxing, good bed, free tv channels, bathroom not too big but enough for a week stay,
the staff is always at your service, decoration by starck is surprising but you get used to it and start to like it, in the room some furniture are funny but not very easy to use (lights!);
animation in the hotel on saturdays are good with DJ,
the area is full of bars and restaurant, very young customers, very animated on the weekends.
