“Functional. Free private parking is a plus for Fontainbleau”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Basic things are available, but the restaurant is rather plain despite of high pricing. Also, proximity to the center of town provides opportunities, but if you are going to have a dinner on Friday evening, take care of booking. The front desk is friendly and helpful. As it is not always easy to park in the town, free private parking in the hotel is useful.

The rooms are tired and the restaurant is perennially uneven. Depends on the chef in residence. A great pity as it's on the doorstep of Europes's most international business school and would showcase the brand globally but the opportunity has been missed. The best thing about the hotel is the warm welcome from the front desk where the staff are always wonderful but this hotel needs money spent on it.

Room Tip: At the back over looking the garden so as not to be woken by the garbage truck at 5am.

I stayed at the hotel while on course at INSEAD. It is very conveniently located for the business school, has plenty of parking and is in walking distance of the Main Street with restaurants and shops. The hotel itself is basic at its best. The room I had was clean but the dated. Everything is functional and works, but if you are looking for something more modern this is not the place for you. I especially did not like the bathroom as it has a shower in the batch and while I am not very tall (1,75m) I could not comfortably shower. I did like the fact that the toilet is separate and that there is a door you can close between the entrance and the bedroom. The restaurant serves a decent breakfast and the bar is well stocked. I found the staff on the more friendly side of staff in France. Overall...a very average hotel that will not disappoint if you have average requirements.

The hotel is comfortable and has good parking. Tricky to find and not a very warm welcome. We had come to visit Palace at Fontainebleau but there was no information available in the hotel rooms or the lobby. Although the price was fair and the room large, there was a feeling of cost cutting - not enough hangers, had to ask for shower supplies. However, the breakfast was very good, though we had to wait 20 minutes to get some bacon and eggs which had run out by 9 am. Rather functional large ground floor with charmless bar and staff who didnt seem very interested in their jobs or the guests.

Room Tip: ask for one NOT next to noisy boiler rooms

I stayed here while on business at INSEAD.

A great location for the business school, being just across the road and a short walk to the town centre.

Room was large, but it was a bit warm even in October. Bed was comfy and the bathroom was clean and had all that was needed.

Breakfast was ok.

Only down side was I left something at reception for my colleague, and they gave it to the wrong one which caused some confusion in the morning.
