The Albatros, the championship course at Le Golf National, is challenging even for lower handicap players. But given that it's the venue of the French Open and the 2018 Ryder Cup, it is definitely worth playing and there are some really good holes with plenty of water (just make sure you have enough golf balls!). The second course at the resort, the Aigle, is significantly less interesting but offers a more forgiving warm-up for the main event. By comparison, the hotel on the site is awful and should be avoided if you can afford to find somewhere else closer to Versailles and don't mind driving to the golf course.

“Very difficult course”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Do not try this course if you are looking for a place to improve your handicap.

With its narrow fairways, dense (sorry very dense) rough, long holes and some water, The Albatros is a very tough golf course.

Having said that, it is indeed beautiful, extremely challenging and in pristine condition.
I would definitively not recommend this course for any double digit handicap.

The surroundings (Restaurant, hotel and bars) are average at best

“Not worth the money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2012

Golf National has 3 courses: the 18-hole Albatros and Aigle (Eagle) as well as the 9-hole Oiselet (Birdy). The Albatros is the championship course and will be the venue for the 2018 Ryder Cup.
I was invited to play the Aigle, which is a links style walking course. I am aware of the nature of a links course, however this Aigle was in very bad condition. The walking paths were stony and uneven. There are no toilet facilities to be found and the 9th hole does not take you back to the club house. There is no drinks hut. I found one water tap only. Worst of all there was no siren when a heavy lightning storm came upon us and nowhere to take shelter. You take the risk of being struck by lightning. For a golf facility that prides itself as being a premier golf destination in France and the venue for the Ryder Cup 2018 they have a long way to go. The charge of a hefty EUR 80 was definity not worth it.
