“Pretty good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

Great central location in Ajaccio, and overall a good hotel for the price. Room clean and comfortable, newly refurbished I think. Breakfast good also. Sadly no a/c, but fan in room a god-send. Take ear plugs though as you'll need the window open at night and it's a bit noisy of you're facing the road.

We were given a hot, cramped triple room. This was a double room at best - with a tiny bathroom, overlooking a building site. We had two fans running the whole time as the heat was unbearable August) but our complaints were met with a shrug from the receptionist. Parking is impossible! Location is excellent - but sleeping in this hotel is like being in a prison cell - never again.

Room Tip: We tried to move rooms...were told not possible as all rooms - even triples - the same size

Where does one start? With the air conditioner that was literally in pieces on the floor of my room upon arrival, and the hotel declined to change the room, have someone check on it, or offer to reduce the price? (this is August in the Mediterranean. Thanks alot.) Or the confusing check-in system on arrival that befuddled me, as well as a German tourist checking in at the same time. (arriving after 8 p.m. means you must navigate a code and keypad system. If you cant figure it out, tough luck-- no room for the night.) The fact that the staff has only rudimentary English means international guests won't have an easy time. I knew this was a bargain option, but the room was less than dormitory standard (seriously, the sheets and towels were THIN and the mattress thinner than a sofabed.) If you're checking hotels.com website for bailout options within 20 minutes of arrival, that says it all. Stay clear, pay up, and realize that Corsica isn't a cheap destination. I wish I'd stayed ANYWHERE else but here.

Room Tip: This place is really only correct for backpackers. At least it is close to the train station.

We stayed here one night, arriving at Corsica, preparring for our GR20 trip. The room we got was small, noisy, but clean. Small shower. The breakfast buffet was good. There is no lobby or outside terrace where you got sit or relax.

Ended up here late one evening, after a lovely bus driver took pity on us for not having a hotel (much needed after finishing the GR20!). Greeted by a very welcoming receptionist who organised scooter hire for us too. Rooms are basic but are clean and have everything you need. There is an included buffet breakfast, which also has fresh fruit and yoghurt. A fair deal if you're on a budget!

Our twin-bed room on the fourth floor of the annex was small but adequate and, as it looked out over an inactive building site, it was very quiet. There was a small balcony which we didn’t use as pigeons had been there en masse before us and were still hovering! The furniture is a little tired but the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The sheets and soft towels were changed every day. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom well equipped. There were enough power points to recharge phones, an ipad and cameras.
Sufficient wardrobe space and suitcase storage.
The buffet breakfast was excellent and served in a light airy room: Tea, coffee, hot milk, cold milk, fruit juice, fresh fruit salad, pastries, bread, butter, jam, honey, cornflakes, muesli, chocapic... and a toaster.
The wifi signal was erratic.
The Kallisté is a 5-minute walk from the train station, a 10-minute walk from the ferries and a 15-minute stroll from the beaches.
The members of staff on reception and in the breakfast room were courteous and welcoming – as was the owner.
This is a hotel to which I will return with pleasure.

La toilet pue. Le patron est cholerique. C'est pas cher mais ca ne vaux pas le coup. A eviter a tous pris. Don't come here. The owner is a choleric and the hotel is terribly run down. Our problem was a bad smell in the toilet. Guess what the reaction of the owner was? He threatened to kick us out.
