“A tour of a amazing historical site with champagne”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

Wow what a place! We had a grand tour with 8 of us in total. The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke very good english. The place was simply amazing, full of histories. The tour ended with a glass of their reserve champagne in a lovely drawing room.

Highly recommended even if you are not into champagne. Just go and see the caves!

“Great Champagne and Historic Site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

Ruinart is one of the oldest, most prestigious champagnes of Reims and a visit to its cellars is a real pleasure despite its cost. The cellars are in part carved out of ancient Roman salt mines nearly 1,800 years old, the most historic champagne cellars in the town. The tasting at the end of the tour was a high point and we highly recommend the rose brut as it was excellent. A "must see" for all wine lovers!

“Overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

Celliers Ruinart is part of the French luxury chain LVMH. The champagne house is attractive and well kept. You are ushered into an attractive salon before the tour. The group is limited to 8 people. You do get a relatively good tour of a portion of the operation, though much of it consists of walking past large stacks of champagne aging in the chalk caves. At the end of the tour, you are ushered back into the salon where you are given a half glass of champagne. You choose one of the two on offer. Your host tastes both and waxes poetic about the comparison between the two. But of course, you don't have that opportunity. This last part rankled because when I ordered the tour, the advertisement clearly stated that we would get two tastings. We were not even given the opportunity to purchase an additional tasting at the house. I paid 35 euros, or almost $50.00 per person. For that, I would have expected more gracious hospitality. Our tour was enjoyable because we ended up with a "hen party" consisting of 6 English doctors. They were wonderful conversationalists, and talking about the controversy surrounding the health care bill in America with these employees of the National Health Service was fascinating. But that was simply luck. Celliers Ruinart seems to be selling snobbery more than anything else. Yes, other tours are larger and more impersonal, but I am just not sure this place is worth the asking price.

“Great personal experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012 via mobile

Please make the effort to email Ruinart if you plan on visiting Reims as it is the best and most personal visit available at any of the Champagne houses in the city. You are made to feel like welcome visitors and the lady who showed us around was warm, knowledgable and very funny - she certainly had the measure of her audience straight away! This is a fully working operation and the deep cruyers are phenomenal. The testing the end was excellent where we had the chance to taste both vintage and NV Blanc de Blancs and vintage and NV rose. some of the big brand houses are certainly enjoyable to visit but Ruinart is the real deal.

“The best tour in the Champagne region”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

The Ruinart cellar tour was the best tour in the Champagne region. We went to about six cellars, and this experience far exceeded our expectations and truly made a memorable weekend. We went on a tour with Sebastian, who was so knowledgable and passionate about the champagne. He made the tour a phenomenal experience. You cannot help but fall in love with Ruinart. I definitely recommend a visit if you can. I know I will tell all of my friends and family about the tour, and hopefully I will be able to return one day soon!
