“Good location between cathedral and Champagne houses”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

It is approximately a 20 min walk to either the cathedral or, in the other direction, the Champagne Houses. There is a multi storey car park on the opposite side of the road, open every day except for Sunday when you can remove your car but not arrive.
Rooms are dated and basic in terms of furnishings but they are clean.
Good service from the staff and enjoyable continental breakfast.

Room was clean, beds were hard but fine, inexpensive. We requested an additional bed, it was so problem or extra cost. The shower ceiling was covered in mildew. Not tragic but not good to breathe in either. Shower water was warm but not hot. Very nice staff. Good location because you can walk to both the champagnerie area and the cathedral area. (maybe 2k - 1 mile - to each section).

Nice people at the desk. Very good breakfast. Nice rooms. Good location. I think it's ok for the price.

We just recently received the charges from this hotel for a stay in March 2011 on our August American Express statement. We stayed two nights and were charged both for our actual stay and over $200 for a night before we even arrived in Europe! Needless to say we are disputing the charge.

While the location of this hotel is great, we will not stay there again given this billing issue.

The Hotel Gambetta was what one should expect for the 2 stars and price. The room was very small but we had only 2 smallish bags. Our room, number 9, faced the street but it was not too noisy during the night and did not disturb our sleep. The WC and shower are obvious additions, again small but clean. The staff was very helpful and nice. There is no on-site parking, but there is a garage across the street where you can park for 11 Euros a day.

The hotel is walking distance to the cathedral and shops. There is a great restaurant across the street, La Table Anna.

We recommend the hotel for an inexpensive, short stay. We are marking that we would not recommend it to a friend just because most of our friends like to travel "more upscale."

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Gambetta. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They don’t have an elevator, but they helped us get our luggage up the stairs. The room was tiny, but very nice and clean. We were able to walk anywhere we wanted to (including to the champagne houses) within 30 minutes from the hotel. And at 56 euros a night in March, it was a great deal. Also, La Table Anna (a great restaurant) is literally across the street!

Stayed in a double ensuite room for 2 nights at the Hotel Gambetta.

Location: Very convenient. Less than 5 min walk to the cathedral and Musee des Beaux and carrefour in the opposite direction (if you are looking for a supermarket). We walked to the Tattinger house and St Remi Basillica (About 15-20 miin walk but really not as far as it sounds). It's also a ten minute walk to the food strip and the main train station. If you are looking for a bite, there are heaps of kebab stores around the hotel that open till late and the #1 ranking restaurant-Table Anna is also right across the street. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to dine there as they were closed for their annual break.

Rooms: It is a 2 star hotel so expect the very basic. The room was clean and without the musky smell you sometimes get in older hotels. Heater and hot water worked perfectly. The view from the hotel (or rather lack of it) was nothing to shout about. We faced the courtyard and gardens of other adjoining houses. The floorboads and walls at this place are a wee bit on the thin side, so we could hear footsteps of people coming and going, sometimes late at night or early in the morning. As our room was near the staircase leading down to reception, the noise of other guests was always audible. With that being said, noise was not a big issue. As it was off-peak period, there weren't many other guests anyway.

Internet connection was great and free (we were on the 1st etage) so very near the reception, not too sure baout the connectivity as you go on the higher floors. You have to ask reception for a slip of paper that has a unique userid and password per laptop and for security reasons they refresh it once a day.

Folks at the reception were very friendly and helpful. They also obligingly put up with my basic french as I tried to squeeze in as much practice as possible!

Overall a great comfy stay and for the price, it was great value for money.
