“Absolutely charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2009

Right in the heart of Epernay, adorable rooms, brilliant sumptuous breakfast, wonderful hosts although they don't speak a word of English, only accept cash, brilliant house. Recommend the La Prune room. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

You could not ask for anything better in Epernay! Conveniently located on Avenue de Champagne sits this beautiful B&B run by a French family who make your stay one of the best!

The rooms were beautiful decorated and had everything you need. Breakfast was great with fresh orange juice, croissants, cheeses, meats...

The son makes his own champagne, and on arrival they offer you a glass ( or two )... you are also able to buy a bottle of this yourself for 15EURO, and to be honest it was a great champagne so sitting outside on their lovely outdoor area with a bottle of this after a day of exploring the city, was the best thing!

Not much English is spoken here so make sure you either have a phrase book or are able to speak a little... it was a fantastic opportunity to practice my French, and they were very patient in helping.

Thanks so much Claude and family! We had the best stay ever!

You'll struggle to find better anywhere, really. This place is run by a cute old french couple. Location is superb with all the major champagne houses of Eppernay in walking distance. Dispite this it is a sleepy relaxed town. Rooms are simple and tasteful. Breakfast is the finest of French. We were welcomed in to a family occasion of the owners and their family and given Champagne out on the sunny terrace (we had no idea what was going on as our French is tres basic but it was fun all the same). Parking is also available- what more can you ask for in a B&B?
Only grumble is the owners recommended a restaurant, Pacific Pizza, which should be avoided like swine flu. Check out Champagne Sanger for a good tour of the champagne making process- part of a training school run by students.

We were greeted warmly by Francois and his family, who were doing some work on the house. I can't say enough how warm and welcoming Francois was. We happened to be the only people staying at the house so he walked all four of us through to check out which rooms we preferred. We settled on the beige and prune rooms, named for their colour schemes. The rooms were very spacious, the bathrooms brand new and there was an outdoor terrace where we chatted away with Francois over a bottle of champagne with their family name on it. He was saying that they provide some of the grapes to one of the big champagne houses, who in turn bottle some wine for the family each year and they put their own labels on. Pretty cool. We were a stone's throw away from the main champagne houses and tourist centre, as well as restaurants and wine/champagne bars. We ended up consuming too much wine and needed Francois' help getting back in through the gate to the house in the middle of the night- he didn't complain at all, just opened the door and provided us with much-needed water bottles. The breakfast was good- coffee, croissants, bread, meats & cheeses. It was a great experience and I would definitely go back. (I'll mention as a side note that I am fluent in French so it made things easier for my friends as I played the role of translator. I would say that if you don't speak French, you probably won't end up on the terrace chatting away with Francois, but I imagine he's just as warm and welcoming either way!)

Parva Domus is a very charming bed & breakfast that provides a great value and personable experience. We stayed for two weeknights while touring the Champagne region, and found the house to be perfectly located both within Epernay and the Champagne region in general.

Pros:
- superb location with off-street parking
- gracious and friendly hosts, despite the language barrier
- comfortable accomodations, well-sized for European standards
Cons:
- only accepts cash - but an ATM is a quick walk away
- no internet access - wi-fi would have been a welcomed amenity

Hosts Claude and Jeanette Rimaire went out of their way to be hospitable in welcoming us into their home. Mr. Rimaire provided plenty of sightseeing/restaurant recommendations and continually inquired about our comfort and experiences while in Epernay. Though their English is non-existent, they remained patient with our very broken French.

We stayed in the Beige Room (€80/night) which was well-sized and overlooked the front of the house onto the Avenue de Champagne. Our bright bathroom featured a nice large shower room but had limited bathroom amenities (common, though, in our experience of B&Bs in France).

A filling continental breakfast is included, consisting of breakfast breads, meats, fruits, cereals, hard-boiled eggs, and cheeses. We were also provided with two chilled bottles of water each evening.

Parva Domus has a superb location on the Avenue de Champagne, just minutes from Epernay’s top Champagne houses, and a quick 5 minute walk into downtown. This is also a superb location for touring the rest of the Champagne region with the Côte des Blancs just a 10 minute drive away, and Reims about 25 minutes away. Gated off-street parking was available, though parking space was a bit tight.

I would not hesitate to return here during future visits to the Champagne region.

This B&B lived up to all of the good reviews posted before this one. It is a great place to stay. We tasted their champagne and they did not charge us. The breakfast was fine. There was plenty to eat. It ia very convenient. We had a great tour at Mercier. The rooms are a little small, but we were there only two nights. We would go back. It is an exceptional value.

we stayed at parva domus in the fall of 2008. it had a perfect location for visiting the champagne houses - all of the major ones were right down the street. the avenue de champagne was still under construction while we were there, but this did not affect our visit. parva domus was a lovely little B&B with no surprises. the proprietors were very accomodating and provided us with advice on decent restaurants in town. they went out of their way to help us get to an internet point - Mr. Rimaire sent us to his son-in-law's cafe/bar to get in touch with family via email. they also allowed us to park our rental car inside the B&B gates which was very convenient. very impressed with the newly renovated bathroom in our room - huge shower (for European standards) and brand new fixtures - really lovely. we stayed in the 'beige' room. would definitely stay here again!
