“Charming and well located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

A beautifully decorated place that feels like someone's home rather than a hotel. The rooms are comfortable, cleverly designed and well decorated. The location is fantastic - around the corner from Avenue de Champagne. And the breakfast is superlative, the best I've had in Europe. Excellent bread, a superb selection of cheeses (not just the usual dry little bits found in most breakfast buffets) and eggs also on offer.

The only downside is that no one spoke more than a few words of English so communicating was difficult. But other than that it was a really lovely place to stay.

Stayed her several times en route to other parts of France.

Secure overnight luxury accomodation is really important when you are transporting important things.

Superb welcome and sumptuos bedrooms.

Best breakfast ever in a French hotel

Room Tip: go for the electric, elevating bed

An old house converted into a 3 star hotel. Our room "Tuscane" was a nice room at the back. Quiet. Clean. Good size. Reception lady very friendly. Parking on site. Gated (secure) property overnight. Very convenient.
Walking distance to centre. (2 minutes)
A bit pricey for a 3 star establishment

Location in relation to town centre - very good

Value for money: Over priced for the overall package.

Rooms: Ours and our friends were tired and worn with flacking paint, rattling windows.

Car Parking: Easily accommodates a number of vehicles in secure off road location adjacent to the hotel.

Attitude of Staff: A rather condescending approach from the more senior members, the juniors were delightful.

In summary: A hotel that has become lazy and assumes that the clientele will come regardless becuse of the location - maybe they will

Room Tip: Shop around, I suspect you will find better quality as close into town at a different hotel.

My father and I stayed at this lovely hotel at the beginning of June. What to say?? The personnel was fantastic and very accommodating, the rooms are super clean and breakfast was plentiful with fresh fruit. The Mansion has a large, shaded garden allowing for a nice relaxing evening after a long day of tasting and tours. About 8 minutes from down town and close to the major champagne houses on rue de champagne. Gated parking. Would highly recommend this hotel and will certainly return the next time I visit Epernay!!! Thanks for the wonderful stay!!

Albergo fantastico, super-pulito, silenzioso e molto ospitale. Da consigliare!!!

This was a return visit to possibly one of the nicest places I have stayed over many trips to France; it's like putting on a favourite jumper, as when, say, gardening of just lolling about - more like going to a friend's house than to an hotel.
I digress; it's decorated somewhat eclectically, with different 'treasures' (or knick-knacks) in the various rooms. (I've often wondered what constitutes bric-a-bric. Visit Le Clos to find out!) Yes, some bits are looking a little tired but it's all part of the charm and its individuality.
As others have mentioned, the hotel is ideally located for the Avenue de la Champagne, and it's a short walk into town. Conversely, it seems a lot further walking back afterwards, but I can think of a couple of good reasons for that.
We were on the top floor, in the eaves, which gives a view on one side of the valley across the Marne, but there's no lift, so best travel light.
Breakfast was rather good, mostly home-made with freshly squeezed fruit juices, marvellous croissants and confitures. At €15, I thought it a little pricey but there is lots of choice, including cereals, cold meats, cheeses, yoghurt etc., and they'll also conjure up boiled/scrambled eggs.
The owner, and her staff, are delightful and were very helpful throughout our stay.
The gardens are lovely and a peaceful haven, with sufficient secure parking.

Room Tip: If you can manage several flights of stairs, the 'Loft' has good views and is a good-sized r...

I was not dissapointed with Le Clos Raymi. First of all it, it a beautiful house from the entrance and beyond. I love how the place is decorated with small mementos from all over the world. We only stayed for one night but everything was in good order and the service was nice. Although it was centrally located and walking distance to the caves, it was on a quiet residential street. The room was very charming and comfortable.
