My partner and I had just left the hussle and bussle of Paris and we were heading to Tours in the Loire Valley for some rest & relaxation. Our hotel in Paris was horrible and we were looking forward to Tours as we had "over-monumented" whilst in Paris.

We arrived in Tours and found Hotel L'adresse with no fuss whatsoever, we walked in and were greeted by the super friendly staff who spoke perfect English but who were also kind enough to let us practice our basic French on them, and we all seemed to enjoy the interaction. We went up to our room and found it to be of a good size, was very modern, very clean and the bed and linen was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The room had these lovely french doors that opened up onto a small balcony that overlooked one of the narrow laneways of the 'Old Town'. I would suggest requesting a room at the front over looking the laneway as it was a great spot and noise was no problem at all.

Hotel L'adresse's location could not be beaten, it was right in the middle of the 'Old Town' and out the front door of the hotel within 10m of the door you could choose from 5 or 6 different restaurants and cafe's.

Value for money was exceptional, location was great, staff were super friendly, room was modern and clean. What else could you ask for in a hotel?

  • Liked — The location, friendly staff and the room.
  • Disliked — Cant think of a single thing.

Stayed at hotel one night. Very cute reception/breakfast room. staff helpful. Rooms very small but spotlessly clean and very minimalist. Be prepared to climb stairs (no lift). Right in centre of the old town, very quaint, very buzzy, very clean! Fall out of hotel door to restaurant heaven-casual style eating. Breakfast for 8 euros the bargain of all time! Rooms very reasonably priced. - herts girl

I chose this hotel based upon Trip Advisor reviews, and boy was I duped! Hotel L'address slogan is the "hotel with charme". I believe the slogan the "hotel with smarm" is far more fitting.

The location in Tours is great. You rae right in the middle of everything, but very difficult to access. Unfortunately, this is the only good comment I can make about the hotel.

Now for the uncomfortable truth. I had booked my reservation months in advance with the hotel manager, and when I arrived I met that very same manager.

1. The room that was assigned to me smelled of cigarettes and sewage.

2. I went back to the manager and told her what the problem was, and she asked "What is the problem?" Hello!

3. I had specifically asked for a room on the top floor, and when she had pulled out our email correspondence this was confirmed, but she refused to do anything about it.

4. She interrupted our conversation to answer a phone call and told the person on the phone (in French) that she had a problem with an American tourist. The problem was not with me, but a very unprofessional French hotel manager who obviously dislikes Americans.

5. Accommodations are very noisy. Bring ear plugs.

6. Rooms are dark and grey and no bigger than a master closet.

7. This hotel definitely is not worth the price for the NO SERVICE experience that you will undoubtedly receive.

  • Liked — Checking out of the hotel!
  • Disliked — Everything, and I am sure I could come up with more dirt, such as that found on the hotel's floor.

My mother and I shared a twin room here for two nights 3/24/08-3/25/08. We both loved the hotel! The staff was very friendly and polite. There is no lift but our room was only one floor up and the stairs were fairly easy to navigate with luggage (not a spiral staircase like many hotels and had a landing half way up). Our room looked directly out to the street and was an amazing view - cobblestone pedestrian (mostly - there was the occasional delivery type truck & a few scooters) street, restaraunts, shops, good for people watching. We had two little balconies with doors that opened wide covered by beautiful gauzy curtains covered with dragonflies. The bedding was some of the most comfortable we came across on our trip. Real pillows (not the small roll type), extra pillows even. A so soft and fluffy comforter. We both slept very well. The bathroom was nice in that the shower and sink were in one room and the toilet in another. Makes it easier with two people traveling together. The shower did a little getting used to as it is the kind with a handheld shower nozzle, not a shower head on the wall. The location of the hotel could not be better. Old town location with lots to see. It is not what I would call close to the train station, though. Not a bad walk to the station if you're going on a day trip somewhere but with luggage we used a taxi to get to the hotel and back.
Breakfast is offered with a fee. It is a little pricey for what you get (it was 6 or 7 euros, I think). Breakfast included bread, jam, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea. OK if you're in a hurry but for the money you could get something more nearby.
I also would highly reccomend touraine evasions for chateau tours if you're interested in that. They have a stand at the train station and did a great group with small groups of people. There were 6 others that were on our tour and we saw 4 chateaux over the course of a day.

All in all I was very satisified with the Hotel L'adresse and would stay there again in a heartbeat!
