“Luxury at accessible price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

Well located near walking distance from TOURS rail station. Its nice place to be. I liked the decor of this hotel. Excellent sleep quality. Good amenities. Bathroom WC was installed in a slightly cramped place which I didnt like at all for this standing.
Good breakfast menu. Good and smart cute staff members including night receptionist.
A small bar at disposal. Automatic wide entrance door. See photos I have uploaded for this property. I vote a best one for for a regional Chef lieu (district head place) in FR.

This new Mercure is very central and a short walk from the main railway station. I picked it because it has private parking, which the nearby Ibis did not. The room was superior to our normal Ibis choice, larger and with tea/coffee facilities. The bathroom was good. Even better, we stayed on a Friday night, pre-booked, and upon arrival we were offered complimentary breakfasts, which made our stay very good value indeed. The desk suggested three restaurants nearby for dinner and we chose Le Chien Jaune, a short walk away, which we found excellent for both food and value.

If you're wandering around in the evening, take a look at the nearby railway station, beautiful inside and out. And the stained glass in the cathedral is really worth seeing, though I had not heard about that before, unlike e.g. Chartres.

One warning. Our Satnav (Navman on Mercedes) wanted us to go down a one way street the wrong way to get to the hotel from the wrong side of the railway tracks, and we could't get it to recalculate a different route successfully despite driving around a bit, so in desperation I got it to take me to the station instead, and I already knew the way from there, having researched it previously on Google maps.

Room Tip: The railway runs behind the hotel, but I doubt there would have been a noise problem with the modern...

The hotel is good. The location is good, near the train station. The coffe room is a little small. The breakfast is good. The staff is polite and give the basic informations about the city. I recommend.

This station side hotel is perhaps in the least attractive part of Tours. It is only a ten minute walk to escape and this is necessary if you want to eat. The hotel's core business is bus tourists who invade late evening and depart just after sun up. There are about 6 free parking places otherwise the pay car park is 8€ a night. I have to say that the team of staff whilst we were staying were excellent and went above and beyond to compensate for any shortcomings mentioned. Rooms are fine, clean, comfy beds. Sep. wc. No proper shower, an attachment over bath. One half litre bottle of water supplied for three nights. Cupboard where fridge could live is bare. Double glazing is effective but if you want to sleep with the window ajar, it opens no further, you will have to have ear plugs. Breakfast is fine but never changes and at €14 a head is verging on robbery. The hotel is surrounded by other Accor establishments and they seem to have a firm grip on the town so little competition.
